Name Change

The extremely stupid question of the day: :)

I want to change my username/alias to something like Tat or Tatu once Bid4Beanies is closed, but I don't want to get rid of the 398 posting status in my profile! Once I change it can I have them transferred over or something?

You will lose the status if/when you change the username.... The only way not to is to have someone actually go into the UBB code and manually update everything, which we of course can not do that each time a name changes ;)

Actually it requires no going into the UBB code at all. :) If you go to the UBB Control Panel for these forums, go into 'User Info and Permissions' whihc should technically be located at http://www.aota.net/cgi-bin/cpanel.cgi?action=permissions Then fill in the tan/snot colored box area simply with the username &quot;Tatu&quot; and press &quot;Retrieve User Info Now&quot;. Once my username shows up, you will see the &quot;registration number&quot;, which is actually the order of people who signed up the first (ie: the first person signed up would be 00000001), directly under my username. Now FTP into the Members directory and find that number, manually edit the line which is the number of postings to 399 and FTP it back to the sever.

I told Deb it required editing a .cgi file, meaning the member file... I don't need instructions, as I know this particular UBB inside out :)

Scary as it is, Tatu is actually my real name. It's really pronounced 'Tdah Tduh' but since that seems a little complicated for native Floridians my nick name is it pronounced like 'Tattoo' is. It is an old Finnish (from Finland; like Spanish is to Spain, Finnish is to Finland, etc.) name. And contrary to popular beleif, my parents were not smoking anything when they named me!
