WEll, if you are certain that you didn't sign up for any mailing lists, then I would say it is bogus. However, In any mailing list I have signed up for, which are only a handful, never start off with that line or end with it.

Here is a link that may or maynot help you.
http://www.cnet.com/Content/Features/Howto/Stop/?tag=st.cn.sr1.ssrcn_spam

Either way, Spam is an issue I don't forsee going away anytime soon. I have read numerous articles about this. The biggest line is, we get unwanted solicited snail mail and we don't complain we just throw it away, and why can't we be the same about e-mail?

IF I got to answer some of these articles.. I would tell them on BIG difference with SPAM and unwanted snail mail is we don't get Pornographic Crap sent to us in snail mail.

And then I came across an article how AOL users are soooooooooooo abused by spammers! I felt like yelling and tearing up that magazine, because more than one half of my spam comes from AOL! -- so forgive me if I don't feel sorry for them. I feel mostly sorry that anyone hasta use their services!

SPAMmer.. Stupid Poor A** Moron!

Blah - yupper at least my snail junk mail is simply credit card solcitiations and an occasional dating service - and not porno - barf!

I found HR 1610 And the only thing HR 1610 would do is make sending spam under a false identity illegal and punishable by fines.[nbsp][nbsp]But it hasnt even been boruhgt out for a vote yet - the May 24th date is when it went to some sub commitee - HA! gotta love the tactics
*snort*

Yeh you Got Poor STUPID @ss MORON right!

Thanx for the link

Recently in a newsgroup, someone mentioned the following site (re: SPAM)

http://www.spamcop.net

I've reported several spams through that site, and it seems to be VERY effective. A number of accounts I've reported have been closed down, and one notice even said they fined their client $200 per their user agreement.

the really annoying spam is the crap that comes from a fake email address so that even if you set up a 'return to sender' filter you just get it bouncing back again. then if you track down the company in question's website you find there's no contact info on there that would enable you to get your own back.

that means you 'ipo.com'

other favourites are the unsolicited 'sign up now for hot xxx sheep action' type messages which always seem to arrive when your granny or the local vicar are looking over your shoulder

This URL may have been posted in the forums before:

http://www.brightmail.com

Free spam filtering service: You set up your mail client to access Brightmail's server, which then retrieves your email from your ISPs server, catching the spam in the process. You can log in and see what's in your spam bin and elect to keep it or toss it. I've been using it for about two months and my spam levels have decreased dramatically. Last month Brightmail caught over 100 spamvertisements sent to my email accounts.

we've been using spamcop for a while and no let up to spam :/ although a few have been shut down
and we did get one where the polciy was spamming was a minimum of a $200 fine plus hoourly charges for the time the compmnay had to spend dealing with it[nbsp][nbsp]:) hehehehe - there's jusyt so much of it still coming - maybe I should just go back to sending fake bounce messages *via a wonderful little program called Bounce Spam Mail I learned about here) - but it gets sort of time consuming.
