I have this in my site policies:

We will not publish anything considered profane, illegal, obscene, sexually oriented, defamatory, unlawful, fraudulent, threatening, abusive, libelous, or otherwise objectionable in nature. However, this site is not intended for children and there may be discussions of mature subject matter occasionally. Our intended audience is over 18.

Additionally, this policy page is linked at the foot of each page with a statement that reads:[nbsp][nbsp]"Viewing and use of this site signifies your acceptance of CGSpouses.Net's (hyperlinked) Site Mission and Policies."

I am not sure where I should be asking this, so I figured I'd put it here until someone could direct me elsewhere.[nbsp][nbsp]

What can I do to be responsible when some of our content really shouldn't be read by children?[nbsp][nbsp]No, we aren't going XXX, but I just think some things will be too mature for children and I wanted ideas on how to handle this.[nbsp][nbsp]

I really appreciate any suggestions you might have.[nbsp][nbsp]I've learned so much from this board already.

3 suggestions:

1. Add an 'entry page' for the adult area that makes it clear that it is not intended for children under the age of 18.

2. If needed, password protect the area and require a form that asks them to assure they are over 18 or have parent/guardian consent

3. Visit http://www.rsac.org/ to have your site rated... this help those who have 'net sitters' installed on their (and their children's machines) to restrict these areas...
