Yes, I'm a Thawte notary-
what's your question?

are you a "real" notary or do you only do the "notary"-work (checking, if the personal informations of the custumor is right) for thawte?
which informations thawte need for a pers email cert and how are you checking this?
i ask which, because on the website they wrote they want the passport #, social #, and so long (depending on the nationality).
thanks and greeting from austria

Well, you need to meet one of the notaries in person and provide them with a copy of a government-issued ID as well (two is preferable) as well as some other form of identification, usually.
Notaries then provide that information to Thawte, who certifies you based on our "introduction" of you to them.
The notaries must keep copies of your IDs on hand for 5 years.
Initial notaries (such as myself) can only give 35 points and you'll need 50 to get your name in your cert, so you'll have to meet with at least 2 notaries.
I hope that helps!
