heheh, no actual baby, I just enjoy fooling with all of you. :D But I have set a due date for myself for the infamous Project Trade launch on Tuesday, September 1st!
Hey, I am lazy and I love to procrastinate, and this helps me work hard and not be too lazy when I publicly announce something, in other words I then have some accountability. :)
In the mean time, please take a look at my current site http://www.bid4beanies.com and pick it apart. I need critique BAD. Tell me EVERYTHING that you like, don't like, think needs to be added, and don't be soft (I have pretty thick skin). This is going to help me tremendously, so pleeeaase?
Thanks y'all

Tuesday Sept. 1st?????? Isn't Sept. 1st a Wednesday?[nbsp][nbsp]It better be, otherwise it means they eliminated August 31st and then I don't have a birthday after all this year...hehehehe.

I like the site, only thing I can think of is moving the search bar from the top to the right side menu bar, and move the News Headlines to the top even with categories and Utilities, and put the welcome message under it..

Armand, oops my bad! Wednesday it is! And I am glad, later when the launch day is mentioned Wednesday sounds alot better then plain old Tuesday... tis' also the reason why I added a few days and made the launch day the 1st of September. I am such a nerd! :)
elite, thanks for the comments. I like the thought of placing the welcome message under the News Headlines or at least making a justified paragraph and leaving it where it is. ;) But unfortunately the search part will be going away shortly to a special page as the plot soon thickens and search functions get more complicated.
Could it be that I am come so close to Bid4Beanies' perfection that this post can only get two replies? (ahem!, other AOTA surfers! :) )

I once mentioned that I liked your site...[nbsp][nbsp]what you did seemed to fit just fine.[nbsp][nbsp]I'll go back and give it another visit though - tried last night but the various national backbones (UUNet, CW, AT&T) were absolutely SLOOOOW.[nbsp][nbsp]Only the network used by Verio seemed to have any speed :([nbsp][nbsp]wonder what caused the slowdown this time...

Got a chance to look at your main page :)...
I think you need to decide what your visitors should first see...they need to be brought into your site by some headline, or opening text, etc.[nbsp][nbsp]When I got to your page I didn't know what to look at first...most of the text is in the same size...and nothing really called out to me except the title bars.
Also, your logo seems to be lost in the top left-hand corner...maybe put your banner ad to the top and separate it by your logo and menu (this will also break up some of your horizontal boxes (banner, news and tidbits box).
I agree that the 3 title bars (Currently Categories, News Headlines, & Utilities) should line up horizontally, but I also think you need some breathing room just above them. How about making some space and listing your opening paragraph just above your title bars?[nbsp][nbsp]Also you might want to try enlarging the size of your opening paragraph text...give visitors something to read first...and maybe putting your text in a color to stand out.[nbsp][nbsp]Then give some room underneath, then the title bars...I think the Featured items should be above the News Headlines...jmo :).
Hmmm...another thing I just thought of...reducing the size of the title bar fonts...just an idea :).
All just my opinion ;)

Back again :)
There is something to what both Joi and Elite are saying - there appears to be nothing to focus on - perhaps too many colors as well for title bars - I prefer to make those standard throughout.
The welcome message needs to stand out more, or be on its own, rather than squashed between two title bars.[nbsp][nbsp]You might consider stretching that across the width of the screen, and lining up the title bars.[nbsp][nbsp]Would probably make the layout a bit more organized.
The search is also an important feature of your site, as such you may want to highlight that as well, perhaps with a dark background.[nbsp][nbsp]Just my humble opinion LOL - I'm looking for the same types of answers you are!

I agree with everyone so far, most of my family members have also said something about my recent semi-rennovation (I haven't even completed it yet, right now I have a 100% focus on Project Trade) of being somewhat "too busy" and left them a little confused thinking "what should I be looking at all tha` collors and tha` texts?"
Of course I hope you do know that I secretively (not anymore) am using all of this info and more for Project Trade, right? :D
