Hi FQuest,
I'm experiencing a problem with QuestMail that has started in the last hour or two.[nbsp][nbsp]When I click to read a new message I get the error below.[nbsp][nbsp]I can view messages that I've previously read, but not my new messages.[nbsp][nbsp]I don't have access right now to my normal mail reader right now, so I can't tell if I can read new messages elsewhere.

Well, everything seems to be working now.[nbsp][nbsp]If you did something to fix it, thanks.[nbsp][nbsp]If not... (cross fingers...)
Have a nice day :)

I've got a lot of time out errors trying to reach QuestMail at QuestMail.FutureQuest.net. Any ideas why, or is it just me?

O.K. now QuestMail is totally down.
Looks like someone has overloaded it... TeRRa is cleaning it up now and restarting it...

How would one overload it, and is there something to prevent it?

Hay is there anyway to make questmail reflect what is currently in our mailfiles that we pop out ?
I know this was asked before, but I did not get the answer. I do not even bother to delete mail from questmail, because I typically pop the mail out every two days. This ends up creating a buildup in quest mail.
My concern is not loosing any messages in my pop mailbox. Questmail I only use when I do not walk around with my laptop, where I do all my work. :)

Overloads, it's a catch-22 as it runs as a FastCGI application and is persistant in memory accross calls...
1) Limit QuestMail and disrupt long *normal* operations, generating complaints
2) Have an occasional overload (rare) that forces me to restart the daemon
Actually it's a no-win situation for us... :(
What I will be doing is shutting QuestMail down for a few days and move it over to a DAS server... (mid to late Nov)
QuestMail has caused countless frustration as we do not have control of the source code and are at the mercy of the developers...[nbsp][nbsp]I have sent in many bug reports and requests for new features, most all of them have been ignored or not responded to... :(
If it continues to have problems, and we do not get reliable support from the developers then we may just have to pull the plug on QuestMail as it has become a support nightmare...
It was rolled out for a specific purpose (debugging/roaming) but has escalated far beyond what we have the resources to support...
You may want to start seeking commercial alternatives like HotMail as they support Web Based POP access...[nbsp][nbsp]The only downside is the included mandatory advertising...
We thought that QuestMail would be the greatest addition to our offerings...[nbsp][nbsp]Time would tell us if that were to be true...[nbsp][nbsp]I now see that it is on a doomed path...

I'm sometimes using AtDot email.
You can download it at:
http://www.ndn.net/software/atdot.shtml
It's free and it works for me (at least the reading capabilities).

I just tried Hotmail, at Terra's suggestion - I like it!

When QuestMail was given a kick in the pants, did it lose some mail that may have been sent during the process?[nbsp]

I used Hotmail and then Yahoo Mail before QuestMail came on-line.[nbsp][nbsp]I like QuestMail a lot better.[nbsp][nbsp]The biggest benefit is that when I send a message to someone it comes from support@ourchurch.com rather than pds_occ@yahoo.com.[nbsp][nbsp]That means 1) people know right away the message came from me and 2) I don't have to check for mail in two places.
I hope you guys don't have to pull the plug on QuestMail, because even with the occassional problems the benefits outweight the difficulties.

Well I am not bashing QuestMail,:) but I was hoping that it would be more flexable. It sounds like Terra has had more issues with the SW and SW support then my little problems.
How do you change the reply to Addr ?[nbsp][nbsp]I thought I canged this at one point but I am sending out xpsalmus-XXX@psalmus.net as my reply addr.
Did I miss something here ? Or am I just blind today...

Click on the OPTIONS button and then change the "Your Email" to *not* show the xdom....
That should do it :)

I have to second that. I don't know...I guess I've complained and not said enough positive things about Questmail, but please, please don't take it away. I concur with all of pdstein's reasons for preferring it over other options.

QuestMail is currently not receiving some emails designated for me, although my email client software seems to be receiving them fine.
It isn't from a particular host, just random.

SneakyDave:[nbsp][nbsp]What was the problem?[nbsp][nbsp]You didn't elaborate in your email to support as to what it was or what fixed it....
I'm curious, as I hate to leave threads like this hanging...

It was pure stupidity Deb, pure and simple on my part.
My email client was open on my PC, checking mail every 10 minutes and receiving everything.
My laptop connection using QuestMail didn't receive most of the mail I was receiving because my home PC was picking it off the server.
Please excuse my ignorance.
!Shazam!
I will certainly have to remember that one.[nbsp][nbsp]I'm betting there are a number of ppl who have been snagged by this type of thing... As well as "No more than one connection is allowed at one time"
Thanks for sharing Sneaky!

Help!
I had 30-40 messages in my box.[nbsp][nbsp]Since I'm in the US now I am using Questmail to check my mail.
When I deleted some of the mail, it of course went to trash.[nbsp][nbsp]When I deleted a few more, my entire INBOX disappeared - and not even to the trash - just disappeared into thin air!
Can someone check Questmail real quick![nbsp][nbsp]I have a ton of messages in there I cannot afford to lose!

Happened to me too. :( Empty your trash can in Questmail is what I was told to do.:)
BTY I just tried it again and my inbox went blank. I then deleted the deleted mail. I sent myself a messagfe and still only had this one message in Questmail.
Pop3 mailbox is not effected by this problem.....
Just frustration.

hhrrrrmmm I've yet to get QuestMail to do that on this end :/[nbsp][nbsp]It certainly sounds like a bug...and we have sent in *every* complaint/report but have not received a valid reply yet :(

I know I sent this problem to you before...... When I first started using Questmail.....
I vote for a mail reader which can read our pop mailboxes on line. Just my opinion......UG :) :)
