404 File not found, but it's there

This is driving me crazy. I'm trying to install discus and everything is working except it won't serve the gif files in the icons subdirectory. For example:
http://www.childrensonline.org/fbb/icons/tree_g.gif

Even the clipart subdirectory is works ok
For example:
http://www.childrensonline.org/fbb/clipart/board_logo.gif

I think I've checked the permissions, etc.

Any thoughts?

I looked in your icons directory there is no tree_g.gif file. And I'm wondering you seem to have more icons in your directory than mine, is there a new version out? Well if you need any icons I got them at http://www.digitaldynasty.com/discus/icons

Well this is very strange!

The files that appear to be in http://www.childrensonline.org/fbb/icons/
are not at all the ones that I see when I FTP to /big/dom/xchildrensonline/www/fbb/icons
