I posted this question on another thread (advanced development) but that wasn't the best place for it, and it didn't get answered.

Have you thought about setting up netatalk on FQ's server? netatalk is Appleshare/IP for Linux, and it would make things nice and easy for us Mac users. I know we aren't too numerous, but we like to be hugged and cuddled and loved http://www.aota.net/ubb/smile.gif

Well, ok, maybe not all of us. But you _do_ have Samba access on the higher end accounts.. see, netatalk might be enough to make me upgrade http://www.aota.net/ubb/wink.gif

Plus Appleshare seems to go through the firewall I'm behind, whilst FTP only works with certain clients, and I can't figure out why that is.. I think it hangs up on PASV (Passive) connections.

Hmmmm, intersting but I doubt it...

We are not prepared at this time to officially support this protocol, *unless* you volunteer to answer all 'support@' emails concerning the usage/setup/configuration of this... http://www.aota.net/ubb/wink.gif

Being that we don't have MAC's, it would be next to impossible for me to diagnose problems a client would be having, thereby increasing our support costs dramatically due to the time involved...

We get emails all the time from people *not* reading their FTP and/or EMail documentation that comes with the program and expect us to train them in FTP or EMail usage 101... We still have people trying to figure out how to read their email with FTP... (sad, but true)...

It all boils down to the question of, can we effectively support this protocol - and do I have the capability (MAC machine) to build and test it...

Short Answer: no
Long Answer: maybe later on
