I've just started playing around with the Control panel and the stats program -- the stats are GREAT!!! It's by far the most detailed program I've seen. I still haven't figured out what a 304 is and why I want to know about it (read their explanation; didn't mean anything to me) but I'm very happy with the detail. It's important to us at this stage to know where people are coming from and who's linking to us.

One question. I'm used to counting visitors per day. I can find the total for the month, but not a daily. Am I missing something?

When you see the monthly statistics, below the top graph, and above the bottom table headers - you should see this hyperlink...

Short statistics for December 1998 (updated more frequently)

Click on that to get the daily breakdown...

BTW - a 304, means that the server did not have to transfer the page to the clients browser, due to the customer already having the same page in their cache...

Sorta like...
Client -- (Is the page newer?) --> Apache
if no:
Apache -- (no, respond 304) --> Client (OK, I'll used the cached copy)

If yes:
Apache -- (yes, respond 200) --> Client (download new page)

Hope this helps...

Thanks, Andrew --

Yes, it helps tremendously. And I hadn't tried the frames version of the stats program; discovered that after I posted. About the second button down is "days". Sorry!
