You know, I completely forgot about SETI... Was going to run a packet or two to put this overclocked beast to the test, but I have found testing with QuakeIII to be much more fun :P[nbsp][nbsp]You know, because it tests the video/sound performance as well... ;)
I'll fire it up one of these days and see what it does... shouldn't do too badly - I also want to run one on the AMD K6-2 350 overclocked to 366 (192 megs RAM) and compare the two machines...

Weelllll, using a Sun Ultra 1 did not pay off for me
(SPARCy, number 15 on the list). But since I got my
Ultra 10 the speed has doubled at least. My average
has dropped by a few hours already.
Probably still not the fasted, but I don't have to
look over my shoulder any more!

#1 Deb -- Thanks for finally getting a "roundtuit" for posting the January winners - I'm so happy I was in the winner's box/table this last drawing! (And I'm no longer as manic about putting my computer to sleep every time I step away from it...heh!)
#2 frankc: Sure, you may covet the speed Pier's got on his Sun, but if he breaks down or has a lengthy power outage, it's possible to pass him up!...Have you noticed that "MadMix-DMCity (Athlon 600, Win98)" has been stuck at "106 results received" for quite a while? Wonder what happened...I was surprised when I passed him up a few weeks ago. (But wait---is Pier dedicating a whole computer just to SETI? Wish I had that luxury.)
#3 I'm running SETI on a G3 Mac, and seem to be having decent times?? So I wonder what a G4 will do? My goal in SETI life is to pass jeni.li up, but that'll only happen if she takes a whole semester off. (Gained some ground on her over Christmas break, though!)
Jeez, enough rambling!

Jazz,
My friend Chris (Mad Mix) has been real busy with work lately, which doesn't involve his PC.[nbsp][nbsp]Says he hasn't switched the thing on in over two weeks, hence the sudden stop at 106 units.
I'm pleased to say I'm gonna catch him soon as my Athlon 700 churns them out pretty rapidly and my overall average unit time slowly decreases.[nbsp][nbsp]I think I was at 48 units when I switched from my PII-333.[nbsp][nbsp]Unfortunately I'm not in a position where I can leave my machine on 24/7 else whoooooooooosh :)

Regards, Dean.

Well, it's running Oracle8i and Apache w/ Resin, and it's a development-server @ work for dedicated jsp-websites.
But because it doesn't have to do much (Oracle only uses full power once a week during a major transaction), approx. 99% CPU-time is for seti@home.
And because I'm the only one that has the root-password...

To show my little appreciation to the FutureQuest, I have dedicated all my workunits to the team.
I believe this should be able to push FutureQuest to much higher position in the Top 100.
Although I am thousand miles away from you guys, I appreciate all the help I have got from the FutureQuest staff and community.

Hey Justin,
I know I'm refrencing something you said much earlier this year but since this thread was ressurected....I highly recommend doing benchmarking and testing of equipment using the WFA mod for Q3A. :)[nbsp][nbsp]I use that almost exclusively a few times a week for stress relief and to make sure the gfd is keeping the Athlon 750 running at 1Ghz. :)

Paul,
Quote from SETI website:
If this is the first group you have ever joined then all of your current credit will be given to this group, in addition to all new credit you receive.
I presume I could instantly add 2000+ workunits after I join FutureQuest team, however, it seems this does not happen :(
I am not sure what went wrong and don't know who to contact, too bad they do not use FutureQuest as their technical support:(
Anyway, at least all my future workunits will add to FutureQuest team!!!
Justin,
Even I got a map I do not know the actual miles. Hope I can visit you guys sometimes in the future :)

Hey Jerry!
Thailand here, but I visit Taiwan once-twice a year (my parents live there).
One day we should get together for a drink or meal there!

Hey! :)
You know the neatest thing about seeing this thread resurrected again? It's getting a chance to see one more time what a kewl, awesome community this indeed is.... friendships that span the globe and people meeting people here and in 3D due to here all the time.[nbsp][nbsp]Think about it a moment ... it's actually quite moving.

Hi Jerry / Ted,
I'm sort of mid-way between you two.

Ted/Chris,
Thank you guys.
I never know this kind of friendship could happen in a web hosting company.
In my last hosting company, I am not able to get into the forum they setup for us in the day one until I left!!! I am very glad that I have switched to FutureQuest. :)
P.S. How do I show a very BIG smile?

1)[nbsp][nbsp]I have ignored this whole SETI thing since I joined FQuest over a year ago just because I was too lazy to figure it out.[nbsp][nbsp]But now I'm in - I love this wacky screen saver.[nbsp][nbsp]What fun.[nbsp][nbsp]I've always wanted to find someone in outer space.
2)[nbsp][nbsp]All you SE Asian guys - I go to Nepal every December, through BKK - a short hop from Taiwan and Hong Kong - so we should have a FutureQuestAsiaFest![nbsp][nbsp]On Patpong![nbsp][nbsp]

Laurie,
Maybe a good idea.
Interesting that you visit Nepal - I worked with Gurkhas for many years when I was in the Army, but only had one visit to Nepal - to Pokhara, recruiting. Trekking in the Annapurna area was great, but I hated Kathmandu!
Best regards.

Hi Chris - I love the Gurkhas.[nbsp][nbsp]I go there to play elephant polo - http://elephantpolo.com - and the British Gurkha Gladiators are a mainstay of the tournament.[nbsp][nbsp]They're such great folks and they do a lot of good - that's for sure.
As soon as I make my reservations I'll let you know when I'll be in BKK.[nbsp][nbsp]It'd be fun to meet up somewhere.
