We're baaaaaaack!

The FutureQuest SETI team is currently sitting at #23 in the Top 100 list of small companies. Thank you.. it really shows what a team can accomplish. (and a great team it is!)

http://setiathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/stats/team/team_type_1.html

As we settle in from our recent move and things around the[nbsp][nbsp]office return to normal (or wait a minute, should I say.. paranormal.. :P) and with the recent rekindling of the SETI spirit, there's no time like the present to whip out a brand new list of SETI winners along with a FutureQuest Team update:

http://www.FutureQuest.net/Status/SETI.php

Since it has been so long[nbsp][nbsp](DEB!)..[nbsp][nbsp]we picked 8 winners this time, and it goes like this..

Millas-e.com
Tiswest.com/
HappyRose.com
Actionstep.com
Cdaig.com
ParkWayStudio.com
SneakyDave.com
OutDoorsShow.com

Each of you get a choice of one of the following:

A free IRM, IRO, or Sub-Domain! (To claim your prize, please visit the order forms and note in the Comments[nbsp][nbsp]section that you are a SETI winner!)

We'll give semi-regular updates, and give more away each[nbsp][nbsp]month (or somewhere near there, it just depends) On what? I really don't know! It's just for fun.. and all it takes to qualify for the drawing is that you have submitted at least one packet.

For those that have been plugging away, thank you.. and for those that have not yet joined us.. do so, will you?

Thanks!

Just wanted to say congrats to the winners and that I'm glad to see FQ back on top of the Seti thing... plus that we seem to climbing the chart.[nbsp][nbsp]very cool.

Wow, what a team.[nbsp][nbsp]I am very proud to be one of the winners and to have just crossed the 1 year threshhold.[nbsp][nbsp]My machines may not be the fastest, but every little bit helps!!![nbsp][nbsp] :)
Thanks to "FQ"

thanks FQ![nbsp][nbsp]I have one more machine to add to the effort as soon as it cools off here in Texas and my real(air conditioning) job slows down from warp speed.

Hey -

I saw this at Hotscripts, and thought you'd find it somewhat interesting.[nbsp][nbsp]Hopefully you can use it.[nbsp][nbsp]Or at least humor me and say that you can ;) .

SETI Stats Grabber (http://www.hotscripts.com/Detailed/7194.html)

When I was there, the page that it linked to didn't have the script on it - but the "Download Now" link worked and contained the script.

Julie, go to this page and scroll down, at the bottom are the links to join.
(edit[nbsp][nbsp]Duh forgot to place the link[nbsp][nbsp]LOL)
http://www.FutureQuest.net/Status/SETI.php

Basically what it's all about is taking all of these small little PC's and having them each run a very small part of the computations required to screen radio noise from Outer Space to see if any signals can be detected.[nbsp][nbsp]Seti has been mentioned in PC mag as well as others, and actually may be the basis for a couple of business models that are currently trying to get on their feet.[nbsp][nbsp]What this does, is allow for a computing model that is far larger than the largest main frames are.

Hope that all made sense ????[nbsp][nbsp]:)

2 hrs and some odd minutes into the SETI project. Although my statistics do not show any real progress, I am sure we are now at the brink of a breakthrough. After all, my mom used to say I looked like Jodie Foster... when I was 3... and she was 3... a little. And I did watch Contact when it came out on pay per view three times in a row. And I did have that fuzzy moment this morning when I felt I was stuck between two dimensions- everything got fuzzy and things were spinning around. Of course, I was trying to shampoo[nbsp][nbsp]my hair in the sink while I was sleepy....
