View Full Version : FQuest Proudly Announces New Service Desk

An entirely new area of FutureQuest has been added today.[nbsp][nbsp]The Service Desk (http://Service.FutureQuest.net/)

This area will streamline the FutureQuest Support and Knowledge Base while offering the site owners more control and greater access to the information that flows through the FutureQuest Email.

We have enjoyed seeing how well the forums work in allowing site owners to learn from the questions and answers provided by others.[nbsp][nbsp]It is a shame that this same type of availability wasn't readily available to the site owners where emailed questions/answers were concerned.[nbsp][nbsp]Well now it is![nbsp][nbsp]Questions, and their solutions, that normally would be sent directly to FutureQuest via email, responded to, and then filed away, are now going to be available for all of the site owners to learn from!

Visiting Http://Service.FutureQuest.net/ will bring you to the entryway of the Service Desk.[nbsp][nbsp]This area will quickly become an invaluable resource for all FutureQuest Site Owners.

Some of the Features Available here includes:

FAQ - Searchable, and smart![nbsp][nbsp]The FAQ constantly updates itself by evaluating which solutions have shown themselves to be the most helpful over time and sending them directly to the top of the list,[nbsp][nbsp]will be constantly added to with new entries strait from the emails that are sent into FutureQuest, and is easily searchable by all who visit.

Search - EXCELLENT Search features.[nbsp][nbsp]When you visit make sure you click on Advanced Search and do not miss the Expert Search option (our personal favorite).

Personal Assistance - If you are unable to find a solution to your problem.. simply click on the Personal Assistant to contact us directly. The Service Desk is going to keep track of your request as well as assure a timely response from FutureQuest, allowing you to update your request, and allowing you to keep track of any past requests you may have made.

While at the Service Desk check out the Customer Login link at the bottom and be sure to create yourself a new password for it.

The Service Desk is a full EMS (Email Management System).[nbsp][nbsp]Not only does it offer the site owners more access to the information that flows through FutureQuest but it also helps FutureQuest provide faster and more accurate support. This system has proven to help perfect the services offered by some pretty big names.[nbsp][nbsp]Companies such as VA Linux, Compaq, Pitney Bowes, Sprint, Air Canada, Polaroid, MindSpring, LinuxCare, ZD Events/Comdex, and Ford, to name a few, are using this system.[nbsp][nbsp]FutureQuest, in an effort to improve our own services for you, is now using it as well!

For detailed information on this system visit RightNowTech (http://www.rightnowtech.com/products/prod_righ.html) again to see it in action at FutureQuest visit http://Service.FutureQuest.net/

Some of you may have already noticed a difference when emailing FutureQuest.[nbsp][nbsp]Upon sending an email to the Service Desk (using the personal assistant, Support@, or Sales@FutureQuest.net) you will receive an automated response detailing out the nature of your request and providing you with a tracking number and link which you may use to make updates or changes.

This does *NOT* mean FutureQuest is going the way of many other hosts by forcing all technical support questions to come in from the web only.[nbsp][nbsp]Not by a long shot.[nbsp][nbsp]You may still contact us by simply sending an email (From anywhere) to Support@FutureQuest.net -- the difference is now you will receive better tracking of the request :)

At any rate -- A lot of time, effort, and yes even $$s, has gone into making this system a reality.[nbsp][nbsp]Please take the time to check it out, make note of the link (http://Service.FutureQuest.net/), and most of all watch it grow so that each of us may benefit from its features.[nbsp][nbsp]It's brand new for all of us.[nbsp][nbsp] Given a bit of time and usage I strongly believe it will serve as a vital tool that enhances what we have to offer you in the area of quality service and technical support.

Enjoy!

All I can say is:[nbsp][nbsp]WOW!

All involved have done great job in setting this up, and the time and effort that all of you have put into this speaks volumes about your company.[nbsp][nbsp]Future Quest keeps making it easier and easier to be a customer!

Though I must admit, my first thought was: "uh oh, I've driven them over the edge with all the emails" ;)

There are a few minor style problems...[nbsp][nbsp]

Something tells me the forums haven't been Netscape-tested extensively...[nbsp][nbsp]*L*[nbsp][nbsp]*nudges Justin*

I like it![nbsp][nbsp]It looks good, and a quick "search" produced immediate results.

The only thing I miss is having full-width UBB which I've gotten so used to.

Way to go, FQ team!

Heh.. yeah random reloads will show what's up... we would have normally tested on another forum...but kind of decided to do this one on a whim... so since it's late night weekend we're going for it live.....

As far as the design... The intial concept was done by DrewMedia (http://www.DrewMedia.com[/url), Justin (http://www.HostFacts.com) has made quite a few changes and between the two this was developed for the Service Desk... As you can see it's also rolling over to the Community, it may move onto Aota.net as well... For the main FutureQuest site, there's a good possiblity but it'll take a while longer before it happens....

Very funny![nbsp][nbsp]I've never seen so much activity on any single thread in the history of aota.net!

At least three-four people monitoring as someone puts the finishing touches on the new forums![nbsp][nbsp]Better than any spectator sport... reminds me of what I just read about cyberathletes...

My only question for Deb, Justin, et al remains:

When do you all sleep?[nbsp][nbsp]Or do you sleep at all?

I guess that's two questions, eh?

Whoops, make that three.

Heh, heh. Well, no need to post a message about broken graphics and so forth. By the time I got done reading the new thread, everything was fixed. *Presto!*
;)[nbsp]

Justin

Charles: I was doing the design while using Netscape, just to make sure it would work. I knew that if it worked in Netscape it would work in IE :) (I know that's the opposite of what I usually preach, but this was a live update that I was <cough>forced to do</cough> ;)[nbsp][nbsp])

I think I have all the bugs worked out. I had to edit a lot of the cgi files to make it work (getting rid of the margins on *all* pages, moving the copyright above the footer, etc).

I believe this should work well now - colors match (as far as I can tell), all table tags are proper, javascript working, and CSS working in Netscape... and now it's officially an hour past my bed time :P

<edit>
And before anyone mentions it, yes I still have to update the Post and Reply images... in the morning (afternoon) :)

Hmm... overall very nice!![nbsp][nbsp]Like the look and colors also.

hey Justin, don't forget the closed thread image (which I think wasn't updated the last time add/reply were changed) ;)

Only thing I find a bit funky is that the Username/Password input text (and thus boxes) here seem to be a bit too small.[nbsp][nbsp]Tho probably most of us are using the cookie feature and don't bother with such things.

Sorry guys but I don't like this new UBB layout :( The fixed width table layout not only means more scrolling but if you're using a resolution above 1024 then only two thirds of the screen is actually being used.[nbsp][nbsp]The right one third is just white with a blue vertical line next to the scroller.[nbsp][nbsp]This text box overlaps by 10 pixels or so to the right and the copyright notice on the front page is centred not left aligned like the rest.[nbsp][nbsp]Looks very odd to me.
Normally I'm 110% behind you guys on any changes you make to FQ but this time....... sorry :(

Dean.

*whines* I miss my visited link color.

BTW, the Username and Password fields on the reply form are much too small...[nbsp][nbsp](As in size, not length)

Justin
04-16-2000, 09:00 PM
ok, hope this layout will work better. I did like it before, as I personally can't stand reading all the way across the screen (same reason newspapers are in columns rather than the full width of the page), but everyone else seemed to like it that way. So with a little bit of work, I was able to keep the design *and* keep it stretchable, so it works just as well in lower resolutions.

Hopefully this will work - there is still a Netscape issue with the input box width - it should not be that wide... I think the CSS broke the width of the box, so I'll add some browser-conditional code to the scripts like I did in the CNC.

Charles: I agree about the visited link colors, especially important with multi-page threads... so they're a purplish (though that color may be worked on... not sure yet).
