This will be a dual part post concerning both ASTRO and SEVEN...

Due to the tremendous growth we have received in the last few months, the first 'Siphon' style server is going online...

This server will be a floodgate to the SEVEN server as 3 IP's are being lifted from SEVEN and moved to ASTRO...

The following IP's will be lifted tomorrow night around 1:00am from SEVEN and moved to ASTRO...
208.243.19.64
208.243.19.65
208.243.19.66

If you are unsure what IP your account is on, visit your CNC and view the "Server Info" section.

The reason for the lifting is that many (SEVEN) domains are extremely heavy on CGI, and shifting the above IP's to the new server will offer SEVEN more leg room for the existing accounts...

ASTRO is the exact same hardware build as SEVEN and running the same FQuest core OS.[nbsp][nbsp]The *only* difference will be which server the lifted domains will be on...[nbsp][nbsp]ALL other facets of operation will remain the same.[nbsp][nbsp]There will be no need for any site owner to do or change anything at all.

The above work is paving the way for more rapid deployment of Community Servers, with High Capacity closely nipping its heels...

We are looking forward to this major growth surge, and ensuring that our capacity keeps pace with the needs of the community...

Well, Having the honor of being one of the domains moved to "Astro" is almost more than I could hope for. :P
Anyway, the affected domain is up and running with no apparant side effects.[nbsp][nbsp]Once again the FQ team keeps the ball rolling in a most efficient manner. It will be interesting to be able to watch "Astro" from her infancy.

Uh, just one more question, in the "Seven" post you listed IPs 64, 65 & 66 and in the "Astro" post it was 63,64 & 65.[nbsp][nbsp]Either way I am in, as mine is 65 but just for the sake of clarification???

Also, it would be interesting to know the origin of the name "Astro" maybe like the Jetson's loyal puppy?????:þ

Wolfstalks:
The confirmed IP's being lifted are: 64,65,66

The mislabeling was due to my brain stuck on the programs I had written to do the lifting that relies on 'N-1' iterations...

The secret is out now... ;)[nbsp][nbsp] Deb had worked on one post, while I worked on the other...[nbsp][nbsp]:P

brnoe:
In order of introduction:
TAZ, SIX, NINE, NEO, MySQL01, SEVEN, OSCAR, ASTRO

Currently there are 8 (FQuest) servers online, plus a few more that part of various Pilot projects (DS/HC/DAS/SAS) milling around behind the scenes...

Consider it a progression of tightly controlled growth, by careful evaluation of what is needed - and what is not...

=-=-=-=-=-=
Many wonderful things are planned for the year 2000 as our infrastructure deployment is already in overdrive...

It's a very exciting time...[nbsp][nbsp]:)

TAZ, SIX, NINE, NEO, MySQL01, SEVEN, OSCAR, ASTRO The latter two are near anagrams of each other.[nbsp][nbsp]Please tell me you're not like the parents that name their kids Erica, Erik, Erin, and Aaron...[nbsp][nbsp]That would certainly shock the RCA dogs.

Also, it would be interesting to know the origin of the name "Astro" maybe like the Jetson's loyal puppy?????:þ He was a high tech hyper pup that was loyal all the way through the credits.[nbsp][nbsp]And yes, he is the source ;)[nbsp][nbsp] Secondly "The Jetsons" was commonly known as a toon that aired long before its time.[nbsp][nbsp]ASTRO, the server, is coming on a bit early itself.

Wow, is Terra working on a Referential Universal Differential Indexer next? This place really IS the future. *g*
