This is so cool! I have been unable to use Eudora at work due to our firewall so I like the option of being able to read it with this but yet still be able to get the same mail in Eudora at home. Now I don't have to worry about getting mail if my home computer goes down. It appears very user friendly and what I couldn't figure out, the Help section answered any questions. Thanks FQ.

Nitpick time: The <body> tag has no bgcolor element, and for those of us who don't use the horridly bright white background for everything, it means that page shows up as per our preferences...[nbsp][nbsp]and trust me, it looks UGLY.[nbsp][nbsp]:)
Might wanna fix that.[nbsp][nbsp]:)

feedback.. here goes
i like the concept BUT..
when I sent.. i get this text file. looks like i am reading html coding in note pad.
could the "send message" or "send" be a bit more obvious?
when saving changes, that page reloads.. could there be an added notation that "changes have been saved" ?
Other than that.. I like it. It takes some getting used to, as certain buttons that generally be more obvious are not so noticeable there.
a compliment:
I think it is great that FQ did this for their clients whom need it..
:)

The <body> tag has no bgcolor element Fixed
could there be an added notation that "changes have been saved" Where are you referring to? When I am in places like the Address Book and I save changes, their is a message that says "Address Book Changes Saved"
could the "send message" or "send" be a bit more obvious? I imagine some more redesign of the graphics as time goes on..
i get this text file. looks like i am reading html coding in note pad Again, I'm not exactly sure where you are referring to?

This is a great feature and sure to be popular. Thanks!
Very nice! Thank you. I'm currently traveling and when I do, I leave all mail on the server and then handle/file/delete as appropriate when I return home. QuestMail is really nice for reviewing the mail on the server and deleting those items that need not be saved to reduce the "ton" of mail I usually handle when I return home.
Thanks again for a useful and feature rich mail interface.

I get the same as Hearts.[nbsp][nbsp]Hitting 'send message' just produces the resulting html output from QuestMail.fcgi.[nbsp][nbsp]Guessing either a permission problem or that fcgi extension hasn't been added ?
Dean.
Hitting 'send message' just produces the resulting html output from QuestMail.fcgi. Fixed :)
I've also made a few more changes to the look and feel of it... including a few larger buttons and text etc (thanks LeafWind for walking through it with me)

Very nice!
Now I can put skip my own project, which weren't working anyway :)
One question though. I have a IRM on my account. On another service I used to access my mailaccounts I could choose to use either hakan@webbolaget.com or hakan@ahlbergs.net as sender. Is there a way to do it in QuestMail. I have looked around in Options but there is only a box to put mailadress.
Is there a way to choose hakan@ahlbergs.net as sender without editing the Options everytime. Otherwise you may take this as a suggestion to improvement. It would be nice with a pull-down-menue in which I can choose sender defined in Oprions.
But this is still great!
Whatever you are logged in as is what the sender will be.[nbsp][nbsp]You can put in a different REPLY TO if you like from the compose area but that's about it.
It would be a breach of the security of this system to allow it any other way.[nbsp][nbsp]If you want to send from a different email address on the server you will need to log in as that address.
Imagine if you had larry, moe, and curly on the same domain each with their own POP account.[nbsp][nbsp]Larry could now impersonate Moe and send email to Moe's wife saying he wanted a divorce on their anniversary date and cause all kinds of problems for Moe, which would then leave Curly there to have to settle the storm :þ[nbsp][nbsp]To prevent Moe from a divorce... you must be logged in as Moe to send mail from Moe's POP account ;)

Oh, thats no problem, cuz I'm not married yet :)
Well I have to admit that you have a point there, Deb. But this wasn't quite what I meant. I'm actually using the account I'm logged into: "Hakan". The only difference is that I wan't to send a mail with "ahlbergs.net" as the domain. So the "user" part is fixed but the domainpart is changeable. And if I as Larry set up a POP "moe" in my domain I still wouldn't be able to send a mail to moe's wife as moe@hisdomain.com cuz your server would answer:
"Hey, that domain isn't in my list of allowed rcpthosts" isn't this right? Both Larry, Moe, Curly and Hakan would then live happily ever after :)
You would need to sign on using the username and domain name you want the sender to be.[nbsp][nbsp]If you want it to be from webbolaget.com then you will need to sign on using that hostname... if you want it to be from ahlbergs.net then you will need to login with that one.
I understand that the IRMs are the 'same email address' but those are special cases... according to QuestMail they are different and treated as such ...
Deb
Cool.
I note that rich text emails arrive as an attachment.
How does the spam detector work?
Could you somehow script into the background the "xdom-" part of a username, so that the user could just enter their name and use that?[nbsp][nbsp]None of my users is even aware that they are really "xdom-joeblow", if you know what I mean.
On the Options setup, what are QuestMail files for?[nbsp][nbsp]Something you upload to the server to send over and over?
Thanks,

Another GREAT reason to stay with FutureQuest...and recommend them to others.
Your service is the best around.
The spam protection checks the MAPS list http://maps.vix.com/rbl/ and if the sender is on this list it will not receive the email.
The QuestMail files allow you to store various small files on the server itself.[nbsp][nbsp]Examples would include:
1. If you were in the middle of writing an email and needed to postpone it.. the postponed message would be stored in the QuestFiles area.
2. If you wanted to carry a text file around with you via QuestMail you can upload that text file to QuestMail and retrieve it from the QuestMail files section ;)

Great service and product!
Only a few observations..
I couldn't get the FOLDER to work correctly, I created a folder named "keep", but couldn't move any messages from my inbox into it. After I select the message, and then change the folder to "keep", am I supposed to push a button to move it.
It would be a nicety to have a button using javascript that would automatically select all the messages, or unselect them, something like:
Button code:
onClick="SelectUnSelectAll( true, self.document.FQ_form, 'd')">
And the function would look something like:
function SelectUnSelectAll( flag, my_form, field_name)
{
[nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp]len[nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp] =[nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp] my_form.elements.length;
[nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp]var[nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp] index[nbsp][nbsp] =[nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp] 0;
[nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp]for( index=0; index < len; index++ )
[nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp]{
[nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp]if( my_form.elements[index].name == field_name )
[nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp]{
[nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp]my_form.elements[index].checked=flag;
[nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp]}
[nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp]}
}
I think that would work with just some minor modifications. Use the SelectUnselectAll sending a true or false, if the all the check boxes should be selected.
Just my opinions. I think its great.... thanks

Looks like the "Change to folder" link only works on the Top banner, not the bottom. In my opinion, I'd just like to see the Change to folder on the top.

I sent some mail to a friend that is using outlook express, and she said that when she opened my message (she wanted to know what xsneakydave was too) that outlook crashed on her.
I didn't have any attachments in it.
Any ideas what is causing that?
Also, it seems that I can't delete any messages. They don't go anywhere...
Can the sender if the message have the "xdom-" removed from it?
Just more opinions and suggestions.
Sneaky

Thanks for the reply, Deb.
how about a work-around for the "xdom" requirement? <s>
Tom
After I select the message, and then change the folder to "keep", am I supposed to push a button to move it.
You're doing it in the wrong order.
1. Select the message(s) you want to move.
2. Select the folder from the drop down menu that you want to move it to
3. Click the "Move Selected To Folder" button
It would be a nicety to have a button using javascript that would automatically select all the messages
Hmm... I'll play with it... but may have to talk to the vendor on this one.
Looks like the "Change to folder" link only works on the Top banner, not the bottom
Done..
I sent some mail to a friend that is using outlook express, and she said that when she opened my message (...) that outlook crashed on her.
This wouldn't have anything to do with QuestMail... probably something on her side....
Also, it seems that I can't delete any messages. They don't go anywhere...
Make sure you are going in the correct order:
1. Select the messages to be deleted.
2. Hit Delete Selected Messages button.
This will move the messages to the TRASH and also move you into the Trash folder.[nbsp][nbsp]That's probably why you are still seeing them.[nbsp][nbsp]If you want them deleted from the Trash repeat the selection and Delete button steps.[nbsp][nbsp]To go back into another folder:
1. Select the folder you want to go to
2. Click the Change To Folder button.
Can the sender if the message have the "xdom-" removed from it?
Yes this was mentioned at http://questmail.futurequest.net/help/QuestMail-Options.html#email
Go to Options and change the Your Email section to reflect your address w/o the VMIP-
Would anyone else like to have "next message" and "previous message" available when you're reading mail?
I can suggest it to the vendor...
Deb
Could you somehow script into the background the "xdom-" part of a username, so that the user could just enter their name and use that?[nbsp][nbsp]None of my users is even aware that they are really "xdom-joeblow", if you know what I mean.I wouldn't know how they are checking their email w/o the VMIP- regardless of what program they are using?
The VMIP- is required to login .... Different account categories have different VMIP-s some have none at all, (those with dedicated IPs) some have a p instead of an x (parked domains) and the rest use the xdom scheme.[nbsp][nbsp]This is required to work.. there isn't much we can do about that.[nbsp][nbsp]We adopted the VMIP- scheme to avoid name clashes.[nbsp][nbsp]Many hosts that utilize http/1.1 protocol can not allow any of their users to share the same Username with a pop account (even though they have different domain names)... for example -- with Hotmail no two people can have the username Joe for their email.. they must use Joe & Joe1 and Joe479 etc.... this is how it would be at FutureQuest if we had not adopted a VMIP- style.
The VMIP- was TeRRa's creation to save all from having that problem.[nbsp][nbsp]I personally much prefer the VMIP- over Deb892 as my username :)

Deb, thanks for the info and fixes, regarding my comments about the MOVE TO FOLDER and DELETE functions not working. I was performing them correctly, but it seems that the bottom banner functions weren't working, because the same functions on the top banner did.
Thanks again!

Sounds like there is a buffer overflow somewhere in Outlook Express...
I would recommend forwarding the email onward to 'support@microsoft.com' and report the GPF to them so that they may fix their product...
QuestMail sends out proper mail headers, and I have yet to experience a problem with receiving mail from QuestMail with Eudora...[nbsp][nbsp]I can say that the email sent is RFC-822 compliant and any mail reader should parse it correctly...
