View Full Version : FQuest New Feature: PHP3 Uploading

By popular demand, and pounding my head against the table for weeks, we have now broken the barrier of Safe_Mode and PHP3 uploads...
It is also 'Domain_LockDown' aware which will honor the new restrictions to prevent browsing of other domains directory contents...[nbsp][nbsp]To honor this required modifying the PHP3 core, and could not be done with an external program...
This is a custom version of PHP 3.0.9 that I have just finished merging in all my code changes...[nbsp][nbsp]In the future, new PHP3 releases will take longer as I will have to once again merge in my code and test it for compatibility...
Justin is currently working on Documentation to facilitate this added capability and will be added to AOTA.net...[nbsp][nbsp]We will followup with the URL to this after completion...
Tonight, around 1:00am - I will be restarting all of the Apache servers on TAZ and SIX to load in the new 'massaged' PHP 3.0.9...
Enjoy...

Ok my very very very very important part of this whole thing is done.[nbsp][nbsp](I had to put on the background and add the links)
Justin's semi-important part of writing the tutorial is also done.
You can view it at http://www.aota.net/PHP/upload.shtml

I have completed the tutorial on aota.net for PHP uploading. It is assumed that you have at least a little bit of PHP experience, as well as some HTML form experience. It will walk you through the code needed for uploading and dealing with the file once it's there - hopefully it will serve as a guide for what can be done with the feature.
I for one have been waiting for this for a while and am very happy :)[nbsp][nbsp]Once I get some more experience with it I may rewrite the tutorial or create an advanced one with more ideas in it - either way, I will be filling up the PHP directory at aota with tutorials as time permits :)
Oh, and it used to look kinda nice until someone purplized it :þ

Great tutorial Justin...
As I see it, are the changes that were applied to PHP transparent to us?
Meaning, it looks like if I put together an upload script that would execute on an FQ server, that it would also execute on a non-FQ server (as long as PHP was installed).
Is that right?
Thanks!

Thanks Terra, I didn't mean another Safe Mode site, I meant a site with Safe Mode disabled, I just tried it and it worked great for me, on my FQ site, and a non-FQ site without Safe Mode.
Thanks for the time you spent getting this to work.

Kenny: This looks like a bug in the PHP 3.0.9 core - we are researching further into it...[nbsp][nbsp]If I cannot patch it, then I will have to revert to 3.0.7...
Sneaky: I'm not sure, as I don't host my web sites anywhere else... ;)[nbsp][nbsp]As far as I can tell, the changes done were for a specific purpose and is pretty much transparent...[nbsp][nbsp]If you try this on another host with Safe_Mode activated, then it will not work...
