Ok folks....

http://www.futurequest.co.uk/ shows that we can now start taking on the UK requests :)

For those that have been asking/begging/yelling about it <grin> if you submit an order for a .uk domain we first have to set it up... then the process for the registration with nic.uk can begin ;)

If one of your customers from the Netherlands wants to set up an .nl domain, don't (let him/her) hesitate to contact me, as I went through the whole procedure at the registry in .nl together with a *lot* of help from Terra.

How about .ca domains? I've recently lost my mind and decided to move from sunny south Florida to Canada. In ten days I'll be getting on that big ol' jet airliner... aren't Internet romances grand? :)

Hey Tom,

A premature welcome to our great country up here, eh?

About .ca domains: I forget where the official page on this is, but a few months ago we researched it in depth.[nbsp][nbsp]A business only qualifies for a .ca (national level) domain if it's registered ($$) to do business nationwide, and/or a corporation.[nbsp][nbsp]Something that's much too expensive and impractical for most small businesses.

However, any business that's registered provincially (required to do business under anything but your own name) can apply for a provincial level domain.[nbsp][nbsp]In Ontario, this would be www.YourDomain.on.ca (http://www.YourDomain.on.ca), in British Columbia this would be www.YourDomain.bc.ca (http://www.YourDomain.bc.ca), and so on.[nbsp][nbsp]There are also municipal and regional level domains, such as www.YourDomain.RegionOrTown.on.ca (http://www.YourDomain.RegionOrTown.on.ca) -- but as you can imagine, they aren't very popular other than for municipal government webpages.[nbsp][nbsp]In fact, the provincial level domains are also strongly associated with government and government-related organizations, though it's a bit of a misleading stereotype.[nbsp][nbsp]Like in the US, many net newbies in Canada think only .com domains are "real" websites.

Hope this helps!

Bekariso

LOL... you guys are too much. And to think, it all started with a post in my guestbook, which led to e-mails, then ICQs, next came PowWow, a few thousand dollars worth of long distance calls, a vacation to Miami and now my immanent departure for the Great White North and a possible marriage.

Terra... from what I've seen you did pretty well for yourself. :) Sometimes you have to cast a wide "net" to catch the best. Besides, where else could we find someone who would understand and tolerate our online lives? It takes one to love one. My sweetheart works for an ISP and is becoming a pretty good graphic artist/web designer, so we are a great match.

LeafWind... thanks for the info, now I understand why I see so many provincial level domains. I'm sure that info is going to come in handy down the road when I get the Canadian residency taken care of and start looking for local clients.
