I am currently tracking down any last minute kinks with the network renumbering...

I was severly delayed by the 3COM network card forcing and locking itself into 10Mbs mode, whereas our new high-speed hub is 100Mbs only...

To make a long story short, I ended up having to recode parts of the driver to force it into the modes I needed...[nbsp][nbsp]Nothing like going way down into the Linux Kernel Internals... Ugghhh!

Long Live Open Source Software -- Can you imagine me on the phone right now with MS waiting for them to update their NT drivers... Muhahahahah!

Sorry for the delay - this was quite unexpected for the card to exhibit this behavior...[nbsp][nbsp]Clue point number 1 : Auto Negotiation/NWay interlocking...[nbsp][nbsp]NO go with this card when no 10Mbs signal exists...
OK - back to work for me...

It's the 1st of May and on this day, French people give lily-of-the-valleys to their friends. Ah, sweet Spring...

A bunch of lilies for FQ. Good job! :)

I was able to upload this morning at 7:30am CST. Now, my FTP is down and my email has never been back online even after rebooting.[nbsp]

Betabites is up and running strong (all the sites on taz are) propagation may be causing some of you to have 'strange' happenings..but once in it should be catching on... just ran a trace from http://www.domainwatch.com/nph-trace.cgi?host=www.BETABITES.COM and it looks great....

Have you tried running a trace route from your machine yet? To see if it is in fact not something in between and/or to verify what lines it is trying to go to?

If it's still trying for the sprint lines..then it's propagation...

Being able to see your trace will help figure it out

I ran a tracer and it does not show the Sprint lines at all. The tracer was fine. However, neither my email or my FTP will connect. I am getting no connection what so ever.[nbsp]

I just tested both as 'you' and they are going through... are you sure you are not accessing via ip number or via 'futurequest.net' ?

May want to email support@futurequest.net to verify settings etc ...

Noticably faster here in Texas![nbsp][nbsp]Tracert went from 19 hops to 11.

My email appears to be connecting (faster!).

However, some of the minor league goodies on my page don't work - like a counter and a clock saying my domain is not authorized.[nbsp][nbsp]These are CGI thingies, right?[nbsp][nbsp]Either you're still messin' with this or else I need new code.

Re: the 3Com NIC - I tried to do a simple driver upgrade for a my NIC at work the other day at 10 in the morning.[nbsp][nbsp]8 PM that night, I *finally* got my machine back running and connecting to our Novell network and went home.[nbsp][nbsp]I couldn't BELIEVE how badly it exploded in my face - lo-o-o-ng story.[nbsp][nbsp]I feel your pain.

Sandy:

I just ftp'd in to your account without a problem... it's possible that a simple reboot will help - Windows caches DNS entries sometimes and doesn't like to update them... meaning that your machine is still looking for the old IP...

Let me know if this helps.

I'm having a couple of problems with my domains at FQ. With my main account www.randommouse.com (http://www.randommouse.com) I seem to have lost my ability to connect for e-mail services. The mailer doesn't recognize the password and I'm connecting with the xdomainname-username method.

I rebooted my PC as Justin suggested, but that changed nothing. Still, I can ftp to my account, so it's not all bad news.

The other problem is that my secondary domain www.ninthday.com (http://www.ninthday.com), which is internally redirected on my main account, is off the air. I checked the trace route as suggested above and find that it is identical to the one for www.randommouse.com (http://www.randommouse.com) (mostly alter.net paths). So that means it's not a DNS propagation thing, right? Or is it?

I posted here instead of e-mailing support so as to let others know that there may still be some problems left over from last night's move.

Thanks,
Stephen

Good News! Email is up, FTP is up...but now, my webpage won't come up. Yes, I have both rebooted and run a tracert on it...the tracert, of couse says it is fine. Problem is myself and another staff member can't access our website.

What a day, huh?[nbsp]

I cannot e-mail support as my account password isn't accepted for the FQ e-mail connection. Can Deb or someone respond to the message I left above? I'd like to get my mail back and my missing domain. I'd like to know whether it looks like a problem at my end (although that wouldn't explain my off-the-air domain).

Thanks,
Stephen

I'm still having problems with authorization accessing email on www.sneakydave.com (http://www.sneakydave.com) and www.waldolls.com (http://www.waldolls.com)
FTP is fine, and I've rebooted.

Thanks

Ok.... Suggestions that seem to work best for those who are having problems....

1. If in windows open up a dos prompt and type
[nbsp][nbsp] ping yourdomain.com
as well as
[nbsp][nbsp] ping mail.yourdomain.com
This will give you a good clue where you are looking for your web site/email/ftp at... if it's heading to the sprintlink location then it's telling you that you've not propagated yet.[nbsp][nbsp]If it's heading to the UUnet location (208.243.19.xxx) the the problem is something different.. recheck your settings and toss an email to us or post..

2. If it does in fact seem to be a propagation problem...

For FTP -- Try using taz.futurequest.net to ftp to your domain rather then your own domain name until things settle for you.

For EMail -- Again try using taz.futurequest.net for the SMTP Server name instead of your domain name.

The above should get you through the rest of the day/week/month :)[nbsp][nbsp]But most of you should not be having these problems.... I assume those that still are ... should hopefully be cleared up by morning...

Let me know if the above suggestions help...

As of this morning, email's working again. Last night, all information, ping, tracert, wasn't going through Sprintlink, so who knows that the deal was.

Thanks

Great job on the move, seems like things are back to order (mail, ftp ect). The only minor very minor probem I am having is with statistics. (My guess is you covered this somewhere and I missed it). On some of the statistic pages I get You don't have permission to access /stats/www1999/nav0599.html on this server.

Very minor issue, just something for the punchlist.
