Hi, Deb - do you think it's me?
I was on -- third time in a row -- when it froze. (Only partially kidding.) I was on the UBB and had just written a message. When I pressed reply, it went to "5%") and then stopped. I had been in and out of the site, our control panel, and our stats for the past 15 minutes.
Alexandra
who can't stick around to find out; off to the day job. Hope everything's ok later.
Back up....

I have not been able to get a full run on STATS with the SIX server...
I am reworking some routines, and will try again later on tonight to get the STATS compiled for 4/6/99...

well, I ain't happy we are down again, who ever really is? But really, what good would it do us to complain? We are aware of the situation, we know that this will be fixed, and timing isn't always meant to work for us, so we just deal with it and take things as they come.
NOW.. had you not been so honest with us, and told us some crap .. well, then we would/could get irate.
Just hang tight. Things will get better.. cuz they just usually do!

(in an effort to not throw things...)
But hearts the server is not down. AOTA.net is hosted by FutureQuest also and if you are posting here then obviously FutureQuest is doing fine. Maybe your ISP has banned a certain number of domains from your access.
I dunno but obviously it's not us or you wouldn't be able to post to a site hosted by us.

eeewwwwww that even makes me sick to my tummy lol..
Thanks for your support Hearts .. but this is beyond pathetic.... hopefully the new pieces will solve the problem... if not at least one of the two new servers will :P

HEY NOW.. with all i have been going through with my ISP.. darn.. you scared me! I coulda believed that! *recouping from heart failure!*
Now get yourself together.. it is gonna be okay. It is more the fact that all ya can do is make the best of this situation, and you feel that you have so little control over SIX's tantrums. She will undergo her transplant tomorrow, and we can hope/believe that this is what will cure her.
stop beating yourself up... just breathe, and before everyone complains in emails or via postings, or amongst yourselves, please keep in mind, that Andrew has been 100% upfront with us.
it's an inconvenience, a disappointment, it sux, but, I would rather have this, than a bunch of one liners of untruths... that end up making one more angry.

Things are WEIRD.. Futurequest.net has no DNS, this place is barely here, and half the people I've been able to speak to can't get to SIX, myself included...

[yes, I was joking.. it was a bad joke.. sorry to anyone who took it seriously]
An interesting twist to the SIX paradoxes is that she had actually gotten herself booted back up before Terra got there... (such thing as only failing half way?) ... He's rebooting her now just to make sure it's a clean boot....

Same here. I got connection a few minutes ago for just a few minutes, but mostly I've been unable to get to my site or any SIX site. Apparently, according to the discussion boards, a few people have accessed my site. Others say they can't.

Nope. Still down -- or so it seems. I came on, logged in and -- well, at least I won't feel guilty about it this time!
Alexandra
I vote for the "terrible twos." Teengers are more predictable.
She's up... you should be able to access your sites now.....
-- I think she knows she's getting that 'transplant' tomorrow and is being stubborn about it:/

Hmm . . . my chiropractor/biggest current client would probably suggest that SIX's spine isn't quite aligned and there's nerve interferance. Next time she goes to conference in Atlanta (which she does often), I'll have to send her down your way . . .
SIX, please, please, please don't be down next Tuesday when we do our beta presentation of the chiro site (cuz chiropractor doesn't have her own internet-capable puter)? Please? I'll send chocolate sandwich cookies . . . :-/
You've still got all our love and support, FQ!

SIX had come back online for a few minutes, then when I got here I had taken it back offline for core startup reprograming...
I have rewritten the startup procedures to interface with the watchdog card... Also all disk checks in the startup are now fully automated and semi-intelligent...
The beginning disk check after a crash takes a long time, and before tonight if it could not successfully complete than I would have to do it manually at the server...
I have written a frontend button pusher for the disk checker in such an event, so if the server does crash, the watchdog will activate within 1 minute of the crash and reboot the server...
Then my newly rewritten startup programs will take it from there...
If the server does crash, I hope this will keep the downtime to 12 minutes or less... It looks like the new procedures are going to work now as I was putting the finishing touches on them tonignt and testing them by forcing a system freeze...
This is the culmination of 3 weeks of solid design and coding, time will tell if this will work as auto-system keeper uppers... http://www.aota.net/ubb/smile.gif
