View Full Version : FQuest Alert: SIX
The reason for the outage on SIX was a cpu fan that "just plain broke" :/
The fan has been replaced.
Total Down Time - 94 minutes
March 17th 6:44pm - 8:18pm EST

I hate to ask an email question http://www.aota.net/ubb/redface.gif but is email down on six right now?
Also.. (unrelated), what server name and addresses do we now use for FutureQuest when
submitting to Internic?
Thanks
Paul

Hi Paul,
Unfortunately the email server didn't get reset when the rest did - this should be fixed within a few minutes.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
I don't know the answer to the second question though http://www.aota.net/ubb/smile.gif
PS:
answer to pauls second question:

this should be fixed within a few minutes.
Has it been? I still can't send mail from one account and am not sure if the problem is at my end or yours.

Tonight, one of our cpu fans stopped working, causing the P-II to go into an overheat situation... The motherboard and cpu both recognize this situation and go into a -halt- mode, so as to not damage either one... If these controls were not in place, then permanent damage to the hardware would ensue...
We utilize Antec heavy-duty dual cpu fans for the P-II, and are supposed to be the best in the industry... Sometimes even the best equipment can experience failure, due to even the simplest of things... The fan was replaced, and cycled through a 8 minute cool-down session...
Temperatures are back at normal, running a cool 27 degrees C... For those that are curious, the overheat triggers are set to 50 degrees C...

Binky --- Yes the email is back up... has been for a while now...
(**Correction: The POP and local deliveries were online and functioning... The SMTP daemon was having problems (inbound email)**)
Your main domain is on the TAZ server so it shouldn't have any problems at all...I think you do have some on SIX too though, all should be working fine at this point.
If it still does not work for you let us know

Um, it's doing it again....
Ooooops, this was my bad. I forgot to do a tracert, and Terra was entirely too forgiving. D'oh! http://www.aota.net/ubb/redface.gif

Any chance you'll "thaw" a little and get the rest of us off of Sprintnet?

SIX server is currently at upgrade capacity... We will be building another server very soon... Our plans are to hold tight until we obtain the OC-12 connections... The upgraded domains were taken on a case by case basis, and moving the largest domains utilizing the most dynamic resources to the SIX server off of TAZ... Our primary objective of stabilizing the servers load (reducing downtime) and getting SSL online has been completed...
This thread is now being closed, as the discussion is deviating from the original subject post...
