Can I take a breather now...
The servers are running awesome
The connections are kickin
The upgrades are moving smoothly
Site Owners seem happy with good morale

Deb, myself, and our 3 children snuck out tonight and went to an all you can eat buffet (It was my night to cook)... Be very afraid of any Chinese restaurant that has as their only sign, in big bold red letters, 'China Buffet'... I guess that should have been my first clue... Not recommended... http://www.aota.net/ubb/frown.gif
We also went and saw Payback with Mel Gibson... What can you say, Gibson makes some great movies! Nothing will quite top 'Mad Max' though... Road Warriors was close, but no cigar... I could smell the burnt rubber in 'Mad Max'! http://www.aota.net/ubb/wink.gif
Next 2 movies on my list: 'Wing Commander' and 'The Matrix'... Both look very entertaining, but I'm a nut for way cool special effects...
Well, back to doing what I do best -- breathing technology... http://www.aota.net/ubb/biggrin.gif

So glad you got out for awhile! Good for you guys! I just wanted to add that my users (and me!) have been thrilled with connection speeds lately, it's really been wonderful. Got an extra special (okay, so it probably is a character flaw . . .) thrill to drop in at microsoft.com and see how deadly slow it was . . LOL . . .
ROFL! Maybe we should answer emails about slowness with "If it's slower then MS email us" :P

Slowness I could have dealt with better last night . .. instead I had sprintlink hiccuping me off FQ every five minutes! It was try to FTP, get one file up, FTP doesn't work, tracert for 5 minutes, sprintlink comes back and lets me through, FTP another file very fast . . . argh! I couldn't even get to Yahoo! (but at least I could reach dh http://www.aota.net/ubb/wink.gif)
Can we move soon? Can I hunh please? http://www.aota.net/ubb/wink.gif
So glad to hear you guys took the time to go out and enjoy yourselves! Terra: also beware of any all-you-can-eat international buffets where all the dish description labels are clearly in the wrong places (like chicken fried rice labeled "vegetarian eggrolls") -- the same wrong places that they were in when you were there two months ago!

My opening post was not to imply that all the upgrades were completed... Believe me, that breather didn't last very long...
The upgrades are progressing smoothly, with an average of 5 domains upgraded a night and each domain takes around 40 - 60 minutes to complete... Bulk upgrade tools are being written and debugged, but for now they are done manually by myself... 6 stages, between 2 servers, with over 37 discreet steps...
The order of which domains move first depends on way too many factors to list here...

Andrew ... if it makes it any easier, i can re-upload all mine. (your luck is that the file transfer is the least of your problems there.)

The file transfer takes me about 2 minutes, xdom space and log files... That is the easy part...
The complicated part is upgrading all FQuest settings from the TAZ to SIX configurations... That is a royal pain in the...
To host a domain, requires the maintenance of 6 primary frontend services, (Apache/FTP/Mail/Database/Telnet/SSH) with each of those services requiring configurations of over 30 prime sub-services/processes (CGI/Perl/SSL/PHP/MySQL/etc...etc....)... In turn each of those are dependent on the core libraries and configurations (too many to even list) to be stable and working 24/7/365...
It's truly a symphony of chaotic harmony... In its worst case, it causes a domino effect of disruption... In it's best case, you have FutureQuest...

Does this mean we're all moved over?
When I run tracert, it shows 6 sprintlink hops before it hits my domain. I thought I'd be seeing something else, like uunet.
Thanks,
Tom
