View Full Version : FQuest Alert: POP Email access

I am currently sorting out the POP Email subsystem... This is in relation to the creative DNS tricks to get around the SprintLink outage...

Everything should clear up within 2 hours, I have reset the DNS to timeout every 30 minutes now to help speed up the propagation...

If you have difficulty accessing your POP box, please use either:
mail.yourdomain.com
or
taz.FutureQuest.net
or
mail.FutureQuest.net

for your email programs POP server setting...

For customers that have moved to the new SIX server:
mail.yourdomain.com
or
six.FutureQuest.net
or
mail2.FutureQuest.net

We are going to restructure our Activation Letters, as our EMail system is getting complex handling multiple servers...

I recommend everyone to change any 'FutureQuest.net' POP or SMTP server settings to 'mail.yourdomain.xxx' as I then have better control where you log into...

The above solution is not working properly, thought I had it fixed... Grrrr...

Give me some time to hit the final nail on this...

Ok, I've got it fixed, but have now ended up breaking all of my '@futurequest.net' email capability... This means that 'support@futurequest.net', 'sales@futurequest.net' is now offline... http://www.aota.net/ubb/frown.gif

Everyone should be able to access their POP email accounts now... http://www.aota.net/ubb/smile.gif

Maybe not.
I was unaware that you were messing with the e-mail this AM. I created a new alias which will not work, and I have been working on an autoresponder wich will not work. Again, I was doing these things while I was unaware that you were having problems. I've probably totally screwed up my e-mail account.

Oh *sigh*, now that I've got our 'support@futurequest.net' back online, we've got more email than we know what to do with...

Please be patient with us, as we work through them all... We are spread sorta thin today, cleaning up the mess from yesterday...

Thanks everyone...

I just replied to Deb's email to me. It should have been delivered to Support@futurequest.net, but I got something back:

Hello Meikel,

This is a problem that I'm still scratching my head on, it is a legacy design issue as to where 'FutureQuest.net' actually lives... Since this is a foundation domain for the mail system, QMail is getting quite upset because it can't decide the true server it belongs on...

I hope to have this problem cleared up soon, as I am having to read the source code to figure out if I can get around this problem...

In a nutshell:

support@FutureQuest.net --> TAZ --> &support@six.FutureQuest.net --> SIX

For 95% of our email, this hack is working... I may end up having to create a custom re-routing pipe between the 2 servers to just handle this 5% email... http://www.aota.net/ubb/frown.gif

Greetings from someone who thought they knew QMail inside and out,

I have the shell account working, for example I can send a msg to jomama@flowersource.net and it gets thru.
But, I have an alias set up that is not coming to me (falcon@flowersource.net) Why won't it go thru as easily as anything@flowersource.net?
All other aliases are working.

I just sent an email to 'falcon@flowersource.net' and watched it flow to the bellsouth server...

Check your POP box at bellsouth... http://www.aota.net/ubb/smile.gif

Also, with your autoresponder, it thinks that you are flooding it and is rejecting *your* email... Give it about 10 minutes to cool down... This is automatic protection to stop DOS (Denial Of Service) attacks...

hey mikeeeeee

double check on your setup for your alias. An Alias is a forwarding correct? So, make sure the email address you are forwarding to is spelled correctly.

heheheh.. andrew posted when i did.. and i am wrong.. sorry

I just deleted the auto-responder and a message got thru:
I sent mail to falcon@flowersource.net
The mail was delivered to the xxx.bellsouth.net account.

I'll try to re-establish the auto responder later.
