I'm 'sneaking' this post in on a semi personal level and a semi business level...

Andrew is in bed, where he belongs! http://www.aota.net/ubb/smile.gif

I just received word that our 256 IPs are ready and we'll be moving a hop closer to sprintlink.... this means the 1st (of many to come) major upgrades is about to happen. http://www.aota.net/ubb/biggrin.gif

Please do not ask for any major details about this as I do not have all the answers right now, all I have is a message stating "we're ready to go" from the upstream... Andrew will be able to inform everyone of the details sometime tomorrow evening after he has had a chance to gather the details from our upstream provider and view the final stats on everything and put the plans in motion.

The main reason for this post is to inform you that.. A: the wheels are in motion and B: that Andrew is going to be VERY BUSY making sure this all happens as smoothly as possible and putting all the final pieces together. e.g. the next few days would be a bad time to ask him for help with third party scripts etc.... He'll need to be focused on this upgrade in order to make it happen correctly....

So "go ez on the sysadmin" and it'll pay off http://www.aota.net/ubb/smile.gif

Thanks
Deb

Congrats on getting Terra to sleep for a while http://www.aota.net/ubb/smile.gif Also congrats on the IP's coming together.

If anyone needs help on third party scripts, I'm still more than happy to help out. Just toss me an email at del@downinit.com

Hey Deb...

I am beaming today... I have been playing with CGI scripts for two days.. and I think I found something I really like.. Even though I am working currently with prewrote scripts.. I am learning! http://www.aota.net/ubb/smile.gif I even went past the dotted line that said "do not go past here to change anything" .. and altered the code to work how i wanted it to.

My close friend said, now hearts is a nerd! hehehe

Thinking I wanna learn this language, it doesn't look too hard..

Deb, thanks for the encouragements.. and the shoves and the pushes in the right directions.

NOW.. I have a question.. is there a way to set up a directory, so people cannot access your files just by typing in the URL to the specific file?

Gonna go search for a new script to play with..

hehe - I have withdrawls (spelling?) if the d@mned modem won't connect! Hehe - as long as I have a cup of coffee, a cigarette, and the little modem icon on my new monitor, I'm happy http://www.aota.net/ubb/smile.gif

About scripts, I did the same thing with going way beyond the part that says "Do not edit beyond this line..." - I just put up a messageboard and thought it should be shtml, and a few other things needed changing. Perl is easy as Pie http://www.aota.net/ubb/biggrin.gif

Oh, and I like prewrote scripts too http://www.aota.net/ubb/smile.gif hehe. Soon I'm going to try to write a message board better than the UBB using Perl and PHP3 in combination. I hope I can do it! That is, if I ever have the time...

Glad to hear things are going in the right direction for you there http://www.aota.net/ubb/smile.gif

As far as 'blocking off' the directories... that's what password protecting them is for http://www.aota.net/ubb/smile.gif

Hit the FAQ Forum and go to the pw protecting page... that should do it for you.
