View Full Version : FQuest Alert: Downtime

Around 5:10am EST, a Beta project that FutureQuest is working on went a little haywire... The server was back online around 5:56am...

We are working on ways of optimizing the nightly stats processing... It is an *extremely* resource intensive process...

In order to reduce the impact on the server, different methods of reverse resolving the logs are being tested... One test did not go so well, and a chain-reaction resulted, which forced a reboot of the server...

We try to schedule upgrades/testing/rollouts early in the morning when traffic/activity is slow... I have my fingers crossed that everyone was still asleep, and will never notice that anything really bad happened... http://www.aota.net/ubb//wink.gif

---
*grumble* Trying to make tremendous strides in progress, only to get slammed at the final test... Must be the price one pays for progress... http://www.aota.net/ubb//frown.gif

In approximately 2 to 3 weeks, we are putting a new server online... I will be offloading many of the *intensive* tasks to the backend servers, in efforts that this situation not occur again...

Our apologies for any inconvenience this disruption has caused...
