Need help to create a form...

Hey,

I have been busily learning away and worked out how to do the actual HTML for a form, but I need to know how I can get the information submitted and sent to myself. The book I'm using said that there should, somewhere, be the scripts on the server that will handle converting the form into an email I can read but I have no idea where to look! Can someone suggest something? Or, if not, a good free service that will do it for me?
