This is kind of urgent since we have a warning deadline hanging over our head.

We've reached our disk space limit and have culled our email back to a bare minimum from 104MB to less than a meg, but inside our HOME directory, our mail-list archives persist within each mail list folder and the HOME directory folder is 148MB. I'm unsure how to clean that out manually? Do I simply download (for posterity,) then simply delete the archive folder contents?

Thanks for your help.

As far as I know you should be able to it like that. However, it may be much easier to focus on the real space hogs. The biggest two are your WordPress backup and the oldsite directory in your Joomla directory. Removing either of those would instantly free 540 MB to 780 MB.

Thanks for your suggestion. Could I get a confirmation on the download and delete idea? Will the server automatically rebuild a new archive folder?

Thanks.

The server will not automatically rebuild a new archive folder as that would have been an action that you initiated with your software...

so do I simply delete the numbered folders in the archive folder? I'm trying to reduce the HOME directory folder size from 148MB.

Hi,

I think Terra thought you were talking about the archives for WordPress or Joomla. It appears to me you are talking about ezmlm-idx according to your initial post? If that's true, you should be able to delete the folders within the archive folder without ill effect (they will be gone though, so make sure you want to do it and you have a backup if needed). Don't delete the actual archive folder though (as the list does need it if you have archives set to Yes).

I've tested the above on one of my own test lists and it worked fine (sent a new email to list after and it was archived). You can create a test list first as well to confirm if you want.

Testing and backups are always recommended.

Hope this helps,
Melissa
