Upon reccommendation, I am gonna download CRT. I was also told to get a good book so I could learn command lines for unix.
I live in a town that only has a walmart, and a half a dozen fast food junk places. No book store. So, could anyone recommend a book that i might be able to locate. (I have friends in bigger cities that could get me what i need, providing I know to ask for)
And, if ya's know of a good tutorial online, that would be cool too. http://www.aota.net/ubb/smile.gif
thanks a bunch!

what is the difference between linux and UNIX
FQ runs on Linux, which is a free, open source OS written by that Torvalds guy. It's just a different "flavor" of unix.

Hearts, get a Linux book if you can, or at least a UNIX book that explicitly covers Linux. This is a weird concept for Windows and Mac folks, but there are different versions (flavors) of the UNIX operating system. They do mostly the same stuff but, well, they taste different http://www.aota.net/ubb/smile.gif The flavor of UNIX that we use on FQ is called Linux.
If you got a general UNIX book, you'd be OK, but there are some differences among flavors -- so some commands you might use in Solaris (another flavor) may have different names, or different syntax, in Linux. You're best off with a book that actually discusses Linux.
In addition to different UNIX flavors, there are different "shells" -- or interfaces -- that you can use. We're set up by default to use the bash shell. But you won't want to plunge into a bash book yet; save that for when you want to start writing shell programs.
Here are a couple by O'Reilly to check out.
