View Full Version : Asking ISP's to install PHP...

On a couple of occasions, I've wanted a couple of sites that I developed to have PHP just to save me approximately 40 hours of work.

If I were to go to an ISP and ask them to install PHP, how could I convince them to do it? Is it pretty easy to install? Is it pretty well known? Would threats work?

Thanks

Well, FutureQuest offers it, why don't you???

Showing the competition can sometimes help :P

Also be sure to give them the URL to PHP.net and explain why it is so vital that your sites have it. Meaning w/o it you couldn't possibly recommend the sites stay on host that does not offer it. Many hosts are offering PHP now... "a host that does not offer it may be behind the times..."

Also note that you know how to use it. One of the biggest problems hosts have installing new things isn't so much whether they want to offer it or not, but it's the support issues involved. They tend to be scared of having to teach their users how to use a new tool....

p.s. for a minor fee of ohhhhh maybe 10 grand or so... I'm sure Terra would be willing to help another host make it happen:P
