Does anyone know the setting that works for sending mail. I can receive e-mails just fine, but it errors out on send. I have USER and password specified in the SMTP setup. "Authentication: password". There is an SSL switch that I've tried both ways.

During setup of both pop and smtp it tries to verify the connection, both verifies fail with some sort of "certificate" message, but the setup continues and POP goes on to work anyway. I dont know if that is significant.

Thanks in advance :)

I would double check the password entered for the SMTP server as possibly there is a typo there, but it should be giving you an authentication error message in that case saying the username or password is incorrect.

Out of curiosity, what port setting is shown when you look under SMTP?

Thanks for your reply, it is:

110 if SSL switch is off otherwise:
I have seen both 995 or 465 after I've added an smtp server --I have never changed the port number
Tried several combinations and none have ever worked.

The above is weird --I thought port 25 was the send port..?

OK I just changed it to 25 and it worked. Thanks for giving me the idea!

But now it just bounced with this message (74.207.244.44 is on FQ):

<marcia@mwoodard.com>:
74.207.244.44 does not like recipient.
Remote host said: 550 5.1.1<marcia@mwoodard.com>: Recipient address rejected: User unknown in virtual alias table
Giving up on 74.207.244.44.

Actually, 74.207.244.44 is not on FutureQuest. It is a Linode.com IP address.

I'm sending outgoing SMTP to mail.mydomain.com with SSL on port 465 without issues on a iPod Touch, should work the same on iPhone.
