I'd like to set up some way for our employees to communicate ideas among themselves. What I want seems to be some kind of a simple message board. It would be VERY small volume, and would be used only by a small number of people. Can I do this through our futurequest page, and can it be done simply?

It could be even simpler, more like several topics with comments. I could probably even do it with a page that presents each topic, and a cgi-script with the reader's comments going into a log which I could then monitor and add to the topic page (though the need for intervention would slow down the conversation, it has the benefit of making the "board" moderated).

I appreciate any suggestions.

Either option is pretty useful for discussions. A wiki is also helpful.

I'm wondering if I can do it here, and any information on what it entails.

You would have to install whichever packages you choose onto your FutureQuest account. They all have different install requirements and procedures so you have to decide which ones you want first. I will leave that for others to recommend.

Kurt,

SMF or Simple Machines Forum may be an option you would want to look at. It is probably more then what you need but it is free and should do everything you want plus more.

Thanks Bob, I'll look at SMF. Is it difficult to set up?

Kevin,

I'm allowed to set SMF up in my account on Futurequest?

Hi Kurt,

Bob works for FutureQuest as well (as do I) and, yes, you would be able to install SMF on your full package with FutureQuest. :)

If you run into any difficulties, just post here in the forums and I'm sure others running it would be happy to help guide you where they can.

Melissa,

I thought so but figured I should check. Looks pretty straightforward.
