OK I've got my sleeves rolled up, my overalls on and my work-bench is clear. I want to install a CGI script, any CGI script.
Were do I start? I can't even see where the CGI - BIN is.

oh boy.. i guess no one told you that overalls were not a requirement to install CGI scripts huh? http://www.aota.net/ubb/wink.gif
now.. there has to be a point and reason as to whatever script you want. SO.. what would you like to do?
your cgi-bin is one level up from your www directory.

Hearts,
It doesn't seem to be there. When I log on to my FTP I get two dirs. www and .mc
When I go into the www dir I only have a stats. dir Do I have to create a CGI dir, or is my one missing?
I am very nervous about this.

when ya ftp in
there is a little arrow up at the top.. (if you are using ws_ftp) .. click it.. it will take you one level up.
as for a script.. you can search for one at
http://www.cgiresources.com
or I could see what i have on my unit that would be easy...

and don't be nervous.. now you sound like ME! http://www.aota.net/ubb/wink.gif
No need to create your own cgi-bin (that wouldn't work hehe)
When you go into your www directory and then go back out of it... you should see your cgi-bin... the way you got back out of the www directory is how you 'move up a directory'
For counters -- you don't even need to use cgi because that's part of what we already have installed for you... you just need to visit the public CNC area and fill out the form.. then paste the results into your web page.. www.aota.net/CNC/COUNT.shtml (http://www.aota.net/CNC/COUNT.shtml)
To START with installing cgi you may want to start with the standard guestbook... you can download the files at http://www.aota.net/Tools/ try to follow the directions and see if it works for you.... if not -- you know where to find us http://www.aota.net/ubb/smile.gif

just make sure you upload all your CGI scripts in ASCII mode. (or they won't work)
make sure your paths are correct..
and that you follow the intsructions that are located in the "readme" file.
with all that in mind.. you should do just fine. http://www.aota.net/ubb/smile.gif
