Paypal and promotional codes

Is there a way to add a promotional code to a Paypal page? That is, if a product on a website is sold using Paypal, could a customer enter a promotional code and get a discounted price?

I was looking for this a while back, and couldn't really find a good solution. I ended up installing Zen Cart, which allows you to do promo codes with several different options. You can use PayPal with Zen Cart for payment service. It is a bit of work to figure out all the changes to get your store up and running though. I wish there was something a bit simpler (I have a very limited number of items - so it is way overkill).
