UBB has released a beta, freeware version of a new guestbook. It's easy to install, and has the simplicity and nice appearance of this bulletin board. I noticed, too, that they have a freeware version of their bulletin board, which, although it doesn't have all the bells and whistles of the full-featured version, is still pretty nice.
Their url is www.madronapark.com

Just looked at it. Only four input fields allowed - yuck. Looks pretty. Poor navigation - to view the entries, your plopped down at page one of who knows how many with no way to skip to the last page. I signed it, but never could see the resulting entry.

I just installed it on MidnightMerchants...

Simple to install --
Upload all CGI to the cgi-bin
Upload all non-cgi to your www directory
and run it.... no need to change permissions as the server sets them correctly by default when you upload them.
I don't like that once the edit entries features is there it will probably no longer be free... and I don't like having pre-specified four fields as Benson noted.
As far as ease of install and signing and it working.. it seems to do just fine. I think many could find use for it if they are just in need of of the standard fields....
Now for the free version of the UBB -- yes, they've had that for a while but it's rough because some very key features are missing like the ability to easily delete posts... that can be rough if someone comes along and abuses your BB....
All in all -- they're both worth looking into..

I've just this minute added one to my FQuest site. Deb's right the're a pizza cake to install http://www.aota.net/ubb/smile.gif The full version was supposed to have been released end of last month but I guess it's been put on hold as they work on the next release (5.25) of the UBB.

I must be lucky - it installed for me (in the wee hours of the morning, no less) without a hitch. It would be nice if the editing feature worked..beats working with the text file over telnet!
