I have several FQ hosted sites right now and I'm starting another one. However, I'm using google apps for my email. The domain is registered through register.com and they have DNS management tools that allowed me to change the CNAME and MX records to point to google. I have not yet gotten any web hosting for the domain ... it is just sitting with register.com...but now with CNAME and MX records changed.
How would I be able to just have web hosting (and ftp, telnet, mysql, etc.) on FQ servers? What stuff do I need to change in my DNS mgmt tools.
I looked through some of my old FQ emails and all it says is to change the DNS servers to point to FQ name servers. I'm concerned that ...once I get my new domain setup for FQ to host and I change the DNS servers...all of the stuff will get changed over to FQ including the MX and CNAME stuff I've set already.
To add a twist...I'm want to essentially replace one of my existing domains that I already have here at FQ with this new one and make the old one just redirect to the new site. (ie... type in www.oldsite.com and it just takes you to www.newsite.com ...and if you look at the url ... it shows www.newsite.com)
Has anyone tried this?...I've searched for past threads and most of them address the problem after the domain is already hosted on FQ.
thanks,
-James
