Link (http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Tomato_Firmware). Or DD-WRT (http://www.dd-wrt.com/dd-wrtv3/index.php), too - I just happened to settle on Tomato.

I finally got off the fence and installed it this morning . . . my big fear was bricking the router, and as I've said elsewhere, I'm just not an early adopter. I've had my eye on this project for a long while, though.

I really like it :clapper:! The interface is very nice, and it installed really fast, just a minute or two (really, like any other firmware flash.) I've already boosted the wi-fi, which will hopefully help a machine that was lagging in the rear of the house (can't test it until it's rebuilt later this week) - and hopefully will solve a persistent weird connectivity problem the wireless machines were having too.

Good to know. I have a really old Linksys to play with, and the official firmware updates do not even have WPA encryption.

As for problems, I always suspect the modem behind the router. If both the modem & router are allowed to hand out DHCP, then you can get odd situations. Switch the modem to bridge mode, via its web or telnet interface.
