View Full Version : AOL and spam - partial solution?

Reading about spam complaints and AOL in other threads brought to mind something I tried recently. I added a short note to the welcome message on two mailing lists. It's directed to AOL users and requests that they don't report the messages as spam. I also included the suggestion that they tell others who use that email address not to report the messages either. Note: it's in the welcome message; they already opted in. AOL spam complaints have dropped on those lists.

I thought others might want to know.

Thanks Erica, for a very good suggestion.

Other things that ezmlm users might also want to consider adding to the Welcome message, would be tips continained in the following Knowledgebase article:
AOL Spam Complaints Received (http://service.futurequest.net/index.php?_a=knowledgebase&_j=questiondetails&_i=567)
For example, the Knowledgebase article also suggests adding the sender's email address to their address book (in this case, adding the mailing list address to the address book). Also, searching the spam folder for legit messages and marking them as "Not Spam".

Measures such as these will help to avoid spam complaints, we believe.
