I want to create a blog on my website, but I've never created a website and I'm overwhelmed. I found a free blog program through godaddy.com. (Quick BlogCast) How can I make a blog through BlogCast be my homepage?

The best thing to do would be to install a product like Word Press (http://wordpress.org/), directly onto your website space. WP has really good documentation, very step-by-step and written in Non Geek Speak. I really wouldn't want to embed a third party generated thing into my website - for one thing, you still have to build the website, into which you'd do the embedding! With WP, you'd have total control over the layout (but need not do a single thing to the default if you don't care to) and it will itself be adequate for the website coding/layout. There are a huge number of beautiful add-on templates you can pick from if you'd like to dress up the default though - and installing/using those is pretty painless too.
