Hi Barny,
Most likely the problem is due to the file not being in the correct location. It should be located under the www directory. The following guide will help to explain more:
Why isn't my home page showing up? (http://service.FutureQuest.net/kb306)
If this doesn't help, please let us know which domain name you are working with so we can take a peek. If you do not wish to disclose that information here, please send the details to the Service Desk (http://service.futurequest.net/index.php?_a=tickets&_m=submit) from a listed email address on the account.

Thanks, I did find the www directory right after I submitted question. But now I thought I was moving along great, but when i uploaded new pages and corrected pages, now those updated files are not updating on web. www.northeaststockhorseassociation.net
is the site.
thanks!

When you are not seeing an updated version of a file, it may be because of caching issues with your browser or ISP. Have you tried forcing a refresh in your browser, by clicking SHIFT+Reload, or hitting CRTL+F5?
There are some other "tricks" listed at the link below that may help you in seeing the updated pages as well:

In taking another look in the account, you have some files with today's date in the wrong directory. If those are the files you're asking about, they won't show until they are placed within the www directory. If you are not able to see the files after being sure they are in the www directory, you'll want to try the methods mentioned above.

Thanks so much for the help! After repeatedly making same mistake, putting files in wrong directory after updating, fixing them, I think I have them in right directory now. Is there a way I can set up my files so I don't have to remember to check if I am in the www directory. I don't remember having this trouble previously.

If you are using a standard FTP client then you should be able to set your site profile with an Initial Remote directory set.
The initial remote directory would be /big/dom/xnortheaststockhorseassociation/www
If you are using an HTML editor to upload the files then you would need to check the documentation for that program to see if this is possible with that. Most do have this ability.
Just as an aside a good FTP program, at least as far as I am concerned is Core FTP LE.

If using the CNC then navigate to your /www directory in your CNC then bookmark that page. It will look something like:

Okay, I can find this website when I type in www.webiste name but if from say Google search I just type in website name, I get a blurb of my first question and no leads to the website itself. Any suggestions?

Google takes some time to find and index your site. You can submit your site here:
http://www.google.com/intl/en/submit_content.html
After you've done that you should read this:
http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?answer=35769
Then it's just a waiting game. Other search engines have similar procedures, though as you probably know Google gets the most searches.

I will look at your reply closer. Question?: Isn't the upload on Future Quest my FTP? And if so is that not sufficient? Also, I use coffee cup to design my pages, not WYSIWYG. So, I put my pics, files on there and upload from there to future quest. Does that sound okay? Also, these "basic questions" I have, is there a forum for them. I hope I am not the only one with basic, how to, start-up questions, but every forum I look at is either a conversation, or if it is about web sites, it is way beyond the basics.

Thank you Andilinks. I will get on that right away. Perhaps you can answer the next question I have as to am I wasting time because these answers are in a forum, easy to find somewhere that I am not seeing?

...because these answers are in a forum, easy to find somewhere that I am not seeing?Asking basic questions on this forum is a good way to get started. You could search the FQ forum to see if the questions have been covered before or you could do a search on Google. But asking here might just be the fastest way to get an answer or be pointed in the right direction.

Also don't forget that Coffee Cup has free info about all this...
http://www.coffeecup.com/html-editor/help/
http://www.wpdfd.com/
I came across Coffee Cup myself just recently because a friend was using the book "HTML for Dummies" or whatever and it was on the disk. If you pay or get the trail version it has WYSIWYG.

Am I also suppose to do a sitemap with google? It sounds confusing. Google tells me I have to be able to connect to and run scripts on web server.Web server must have Python 2.2 or later installed.
Must now command that launches Python. etc. etc. I don't understand any of that.

Am I also suppose to do a sitemap with google? It sounds confusing. You can do a "list" form of site map which is just as it sounds simply a list of all the url's that you want indexed. Use this format:
http://www.domain.com/
http://www.domain.com/page-1.shtm
http://www.domain.com/page-2.shtm
http://www.domain.com/page-3.shtm
http://www.domain.com/page-4.shtm
http://www.domain.com/page-5.shtm
http://www.domain.com/page-6.shtm
It is not necessary to keep the list in any special order except for your own convenience. Put the file in your www directory/folder and name it "domain.urls".

WOW! Thanks so much. That is a lot easier than what I have been reading.
