I have an RMA number (http://www.aota.net/forums/showthread.php?postid=161147#post161147) and email instructions for shipping from ASUS, and among the things I am required to do is, If sending in P5 series Motherboards - Please make sure to put the CPU Cap back on the motherboard to prevent pins from bending. If it is returned without the CPU Cap the product may incur a fee to have the product repaired or rejected back to you.
Well, frick. I do not have this lovely piece that appeared (to me) to be trash six months ago when I built the flaky thing. Having to RMA it was really not on my mind at the time.

The problem lies with the pins that connect to the case power switch; I really doubt they plan to repair it and send it back - I believe they will just send me a new one.

Nonetheless, I get that they don't want the CPU pins damaged, fine. Do you think they will send me a new cover? I suppose I should just call up and ask, but I am feeling stupid for having tossed it in the first place.

This turns out to be a total non-issue; I am allowed to just cover the area with bubble wrap.

Um, why not say so in the scary OR YOU WILL BE CHARGED BWAHAHA RMA email, huh?
