I mentioned that there's
a serious problem
in the server cache.
My server is SEVEN.
I uploaded some pictures
on the server.
1 hour after I updated them.
Viewing my site with ftp
program I see the actual
picture - sizes, dates, etc.
Viewing through the browser
I see different pictures -
actually the old ones.
Saving on the hard drive
with Save Picture As -->filename
I can compare what I have uploaded
via ftp and the actual picture seen
through the browser.
Actually what I get is the old picture.
Obviously the server caches the files.
I dleleted all cached files from my
browser chache on the hard drive.
so the browser starts clean.
This is a big problem because I've spend
2 hours to figure out what actually happens.
For me this is a server cahce problem.
Please, respond to me.
eeewwww I despise cache systems for that reasons.... which is also why FutureQuest doesn't use them...which means it's not a cache problem on SEVEN or any of the servers because there isn't one.
It sounds like, if it's not in your browser, then it is with your access provider.[nbsp][nbsp]I would consider contacting your ISP and asking what type of cache they are using.[nbsp][nbsp]A _lot_ of the access providers are using cache systems to save money on bandwidth.

As always,
FQ has superb user
support. ;)
tThanks again!

Also, just as a double-check before you call your ISP, are you *SURE* you uploaded the files to the correct directory?

I also receive the old pictures!
:@
I deleted all gif files, but..
I continue to look at the old images on my pages.
To rename files or folder was the only solution I found. :waa:
Hi,
I am currently looking at your index file for your domain, and all the images, like 2x2.gif, nuts.gif and smokin.gif are showing as broken images in both IE and NS.
Maybe if you uploaded the images associated with this page, and if they don't show for you, post again letting us know that you have reuploaded the images and we can see what is being seen from other vantage points?
It's worth a try :)
Have a Good One,
Bob

It was the case.
I renamed images folder, but didn't change path on this page.
But I didn't see ANY ERROR.
Thank you one more for you attention!

Standard Operating Procedure for cache-aware sites is to not replace a known-to-be-cachable object with an identically-named-object unless having the old version accessed for a while is not a concern.
http://vancouver-webpages.com/CacheNow/ page has a lot of decent info.
On the sites I maintain, I generally set the images directory to tell browsers/proxies that the image is good for a MONTH, and to return last modified dates, so that I can get absolute maximum caching. If a graphic needs to be altered, we change the name of it. (If it's part of the core template of the site, well, we run off new copies of all those pages. But template changes are a relative rarity, and with an automated system for running off these critters, we're talking about maybe 2 minutes to render 500 pages, archive them, ftp to FQ, and unarc to the correct directory.)
We use a seperate directory for images that we KNOW need to change often, and that directory returns an already-expired Expires header. Very few things need to go there. Caches are your friends. Really. :)
Hi again,
Glad we could be of some help:)
I see all of your images now, and I stole your smokin.gif for some future use, I hope you don't mind. Something evil about a Red Smiley that's Smoking :]
Have a good one,
Bob
- Now if I could only read Russian? Heck I still have problems with English :P -

I just translated the whole vB 2.01 in Russian. Second time after vB 1.16
And you are happy not need to do that ...
