This is the same computer as the one I've set up three times in the last week, but as it is presently behaving as expected, I'm going to make a leap of faith and call this a New Problem for a New Thread :dopey: .

So, although I have indeed installed all new shiny Nvidia drivers and adjusted the resolution as recommended by the manufacturer and the FDA (or whatever LOL) - the screen has a bit of a right-left scroll, even right on the can't-be-a-weird-windows-resizing desktop. To indicate what I mean by "a bit" - when it's flush left, you can't see ALL of the systray . . . and when it's flush right, most of the Start button is obscured.

It would seem that the horizontal size of the screen needs adjusting - but pulling up the monitor's menu reveals that horizontal size adjustment is greyed out. No indication in the user manual about how to un-grey that option.

The monitor is a ViewSonic VX2235wm. I have a feeling the answer is "call tech support" but . . . ugh. I will brave that, though, if nobody else has quickie, "Oh, that happened to me - do this!" nugget for me.

Have you done the Auto Image Adjust on the monitor?

Is there a slightly lower horizontal resolution option in the Nvida driver (windows display properties) to choose?

Is there a slightly lower horizontal resolution option in the Nvida driver (windows display properties) to choose? I've seen some laptops that let you crank up the resolution past their actual pixel count, and then they start scrolling around like that. Maybe this LCD doesn't downscale? Or could it be that the driver has a built-in scrolling capability?

I think that was the case; I ratcheted it down one resolution setting, and all is well. I shouldn't have trusted that LCD software AND nvidia setup couldn't BOTH be lying about the max res  . I'm glad to be right that it's independent of the OTHER GIANT PITA issue with that machine, at least that's one small thing.

I am having this same problem with my computer. I have a Secptre 22" LCD and a Nvidia 7800 GS. Both have most recent drivers installed. I had just reinstalled everything on a new hard drive since my old one died. The max resolution for the monitor is supposed to be 1680 x 1050, but the info from the monitor's menu is reading that it is 1680 x 1200. Also this same setup worked fine on my old hard drive with the old drivers, so I know it isn't an issue of the max resolution not being correct when set to 1680 x 1050. This leads me to believe it is and issue with the new Nvidia drivers.

I forgot to mention I did fix this at one point by putting the monitor in native mode and switching the resolution. Then switching it back to max. this fixed it until a restart. Even the monitor info was saying 1680 x 1050. After the restart it went back to scrolling and I couldn't fix it the same way since.

Update: I reinstalled some older drivers from Nvidia's website. Problem solved. So, there may be a driver issue involved here.

Sheesh, it sure sounds like it! This is a hu-normous monitor, so not so much more usable real estate is really gained; I'm going to just leave it be until the next Nvidia update, I think.
