I have a home network, a typical setup, a wireless router (Linksys). When I sit with my Mac and Dell together I keep losing the network on my Dell. I tend to do this only when testing a site on IE7 on my Dell so its not a major issue but now I have resorted to using a cable via the ethernet and turning off my Airport on my Mac. For some reason I can't connect to my ethernet on my Dell when my Airport is on.

Is this kind of problem normal? I have no problems with my Desktop PC which is in an upstairs room and if I move my Dell well away from my Mac its OK. FWIW there are no viruses or anything else on any of my machines, I rarely leave my PC's connected to the internet.

Check to see if the cards are set in 'Ad-Hoc' mode, if they are - turn it off...

Other than that: :dunno:

Nope not Ad-Hoc, so I have no idea either, very weird, oh well as long as I have the ethernet. I will get a new Mac next year with Leopard and install Vista on it so no more PC's :clapper: ... although having said that I am not sure if I want Vista on a shiny new Mac!

I’ve seen this with our Linksys router in slightly different circumstances. The reason probably was a nearby network in our neighbourhood which interfered with ours. I cured it by switching the channel in our router away from the default settings.

I've done that myself, when a neighbour joins his network I did lose mine, switching to channel 8 from 13 solved that problem. This problem is a little different and not related to channel.

Talking of wireless, I am looking forward to wireless power points (ETA a year or two apparently), no more power cables to trip over.
