http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/ap/fn/4811983.htmlThe lawsuit claims that Dell and Dell Financial Services LP engaged in fraud, false advertising and deceptive business practices.

...

Cuomo said his office had "received an unprecedented number of complaints against Dell, approximately 700, and they keep coming."And I've have bad experiences with Gateway sales people. I'll be looking for a third alternative when I need new computer stuff.

You didn't ask for recommendations, but here's one anyway: Apple.

And I've have bad experiences with Gateway sales people.Sales people are to be avoided entirely when possible. I agree with Kenny but would add that Apple is only better, not perfect.

Products and services manufactured, sold or supported by human beings are necessarily flawed and this is because of the association with humans.

Deception for gain, known in the law as fraud, is probably the worst flaw. I'm not aware of any instances of fraud by Apple, though some may have occurred.

In the article you linked Wozniak was lamenting the fact that "hacker" had become associated with criminality. Stephen Levy's book Hackers has the best explanation of this early meaning of the word.

Deception for gain, known in the law as fraud, is probably the worst flaw.I won't argue with that.

From the article:In an interview before the speech, Mr. Wozniak, 53, lamented that people now "think of hackers as terrorists" and argued that this fear had caused the government to give undeservedly harsh punishments to violators of computer fraud statutes.I disagree, and he shouldn't have supported that conference by speaking there. The hacker convention he spoke at was put on by a "hacker magazine." That magazine isn't about hacking in the original sense of the word. That magazine has been sued and lost because of what they publish, but they haven't been sued enough. Every subscriber should have his computer confiscated.

...he shouldn't have supported that conference by speaking there. OK, well let's say you're right, how does that reflect badly on Apple Inc?

I don't know if he's even associated with Apple any more, but it makes me say "hmmm."

He left Apple Computer in 1985. That's a very long hmmmm...
