I use a Parker Software product called Email2db to receive email from my FQ server, parse it, make records, and schedule follow up emails to customers.

When the software attempts to send the follow up, I get this error:
date / time Email2DBServer [10061] Connection refused From *SCHEDULED Email notification to: customer@hissite.com failed.

To me, this looks like the email is trying to send the follow up through my mail server, but getting refused. I've contacted FQ support to ask this question, and the reply was 'something must be wrong with the software, because lots of people use 3rd party software to send email'. I've contacted the software maker, and they say 'it must be the mail server denying access to the request'. I've tried sending every which way and can't get anywhere.

Has anyone out there used this software successfully with FQ or other standard Internet hosting companies? Am I missing something basic in trying to send these emails using software?

In looking at what appears to be the Online manual for this application I see the following:

If the Email2DB mail server will be used to send outgoing emails you must specify the DNS server to use. Email2DB will lookup the MX (mail exchange) records for external domains using the DNS server specified. This entry defaults to the DNS server specified on your default network connection settings.

That would be a local setting and you may need to contact your ISP for this :dunno:

and also this:
Q. An error message is displayed in the log whenever the Email2DB server attempts to send outgoing emails?

A. Check that you have configured the SMTP Server settings to use for outgoing emails. Choose File...Options...Outgoing Email tab. Also check that port 25 is not being blocked by your firewall.

Have you set the SMTP server settings to use your mail.domain.com SMTP server, along with the appropriate username and password, remember to send email through the FutureQuest servers you must Authenticate SMTP.

Also can you send regular email via Port 25 or does your ISP block it requiring you to use Port 1025 or 587?
