Thanks for the clue in on the intranet . . . I know what they are, but it didn't occur to me that they could be a "referrer" -
I wonder if an intranet can access my graphics, for example . . . or if that is just someone's localnet, and one of my frequent visitors is simply using a local link to jump to my site each visit?

Here is a good article on preventing BandWidth theft that does not require the complexity of mod_rewrite...

Let me know if it works out for you...[nbsp][nbsp]:)

--mod_rewrite, as a tool, was overkill for this type of work--

I have this strange link in my referrer stats:[nbsp][nbsp]http://files.webshots.com/pub/webshots/collections/webshots-valent3.exe
What the heck is that?[nbsp][nbsp]Yes, obviously *something* executable and downloadable . . . but I am so not associated with this, and I am troubled.[nbsp][nbsp]17 requests the first two days of Feb.
I'm going bandwith hunting . . . . seems I've had a good news/bad news rise in January traffic.[nbsp][nbsp]Can we say, computers for Christmas??

How about this one?[nbsp][nbsp]http://riweb2/clientmatter/ - that's a straight copy/paste . . . but it isn't a valid address, of course . . . "cannot locate server" error.
How can something that doesn't exist, make 42 requests in 2 days??

http://riweb2/clientmatter/ can certainly exist.. as an intranet. That's fine for the internal network, but means riweb2 can't be "seen" by the outside world.
That other one, well, take a look at http://www.webshots.com
Dunno what exactly is going on, from pretty innocent to outright theft of images, but you might wanna contact webshots and/or check out the other forum entries here on bandwidth theft. :(

Something like http://riweb2/clientmatter/ is a local address. I have a few of them at home. Mostly my local web pages. It will show up in my FQ stats when I have a link on my local page that goes to my FQ page.
You can download your log files and do a little digging to see what's going on. But I bet ya it's just a link.
As for the webshots address. Could be someones home page. But a better look at your logs would be required.
