I've set up a POP3 account and when I send mail through it, it keeps getting rejected by places like Yahoo and Comcast. The message I get from Comcast is "...blocked by ldap:ou=rblmx,dc=comcast,dc=net -> BL004 Blocked for spam."

What's going on and how do I get it fixed?

Hello,

I believe you will find that if you send an email directly to Comcast via SMTP it will not be rejected but if you send an email to an Alias that forwards to Comcast it may get rejected.

We are aware of Comcast blocking some of our MX servers as a result of either too much mail being received from forwarding addresses or too much spam being forwarded. Comcast has so far not responded to direct requests for why they block the MX servers but they do lift the blocks when we request, which we have done again this morning.

This problem is very similar to this post regarding Hotmail doing the same thing, as AT&T has done as well.

All we can do is request that Comcast unblock any MX servers as we find that they have been blocked.

It is also imperative that anyone forwarding mail to an external network ensure they have SpamAssassin enabled, at a minimum, as we do know that some providers have blocked forwarding email as a result of seeing too much spam being forwarded to their network.
