IP Addresses

Hi,

When I go to http://www.myipaddress.com with Firefox 2.0, I get the following IP address: 68.146.57.71. When I go with IE 7, I get 24.71.223.142.

When I go to http://www.dnsstuff.com/ with Firefox, I see in the upper right hand corner that my IP address is: 68.146.57.71. With IE 7, I get "Your IP: 24.71.223.142 [68.146.57.71]".

I don't understand the multiple IP addresses. Can someone provide some guidance, please?

You are probably behind a NAT or a proxy server. Your browser is telling them you are coming from 68.146.57.71 but the tcp connection to the web server actually came from 24.71.223.142.
