View Full Version : Gifs not animating?
So what am I missing here? The animated gifs are running. Anyone with suggestions. This is not in the creation. These are gifs that ran ok before, and now upload and they don't run? What could be the problems since I see them, and they run fine on my box, just not on the web?
Finger problems most likely, but I'm missing something.

A) Try refresh, and/or Control-Refresh and Shift-Refresh to force the browser to actually get the critters.
B) Did you upload the gifs as ascii or as binary? I'd not imagine they'd survive at all as ascii, but if they did, that would certainly be enough to screw up animation
C) Did you actually put them in the correct directory? If you just FTP in, you usually go to your own user directory, not the /big/dom/xsomename/www directory which is the root of your pages and graphics.
Just some thoughts off the top of my head.
Problem solved. Tried my NutScrape, and the gifs work fine. Tried laptop, and other computer, fine too.[nbsp][nbsp]It's my IE. Wonderful! Micro$haft at it's best.
Sorry to bother y'all. Thanks for the input, though.

In Internet Explorer 5.5:
Tools > Internet Options
Click on "Advanced" Tab
Scroll down to "Multimedia"
Make sure "Play Animations" is checked.

How odd, I emailed MicroSoft support about this and they gave me these step-by-step instructions:
1) Uninstall Internet Explorer (IE)
2) Uninstall Windows (Any version will do)
3) Reinstall Windows (Only our most expensive version will do)
4) Reinstall Internet Explorer (Pre-Alpha development version)
I could understand steps #2, 3, and 4 - but never did quite figure out why on #1...
Oh well, gotta love dealing with technical support personnel...
