A bug has been discovered in the mail server software that appeared as a result of larger and larger amounts of mail being handled. Bruce is currently working on updating the software at this time to eliminate this issue.

We will post more as soon as possible.

Our apologies for any inconvenience,
Bob

Thanks. Yes I noticed that some mails take long to go through, some pass, but most don't at this moment.

Greetings & thanks

The updated software has been rolled out and we are seeing an improvement from our perspective. There still could be some lesser delays as all the mail servers get caught up however this does appear to have been resolved as of this time.

The main issue appears to have been in the Virus scanning and we are looking into additional steps that can be taken to try and prevent future related issues.

Again our apologies for any inconvenience,
Bob

For how long has this bug been a problem?

A client of mine has reported unusally long email delays for the last week or so. This is mostly for mail that is being forwarded to outside addresses, not saved in FQ POP boxes.

Related or coincidence?

Hello Tom,

Really couldn't say for sure without viewing some raw headers of delayed email.

We had been seeing some minor issues for the last couple of days with isolated MX servers but nothing like this morning and we had not noted any real delays to speak of until this morning (which allowed us to finally see what the real problem was)...

For instance yesterday we noted delays with email to Earthlink however that was unrelated to any issues on our end and appeared to be an Earthlink DNS issue.

It appears to have become more of an issue yesterday and culminating today, at least based on client feedback.
