I have an ambitious client who wants to create a Myplace.com sort of community for his website - social network software I believe it's called. What regulations does FutureQuest have in place for something like this?

Thanks,
Amy

Hi Amy,

Basically I would suggest reviewing the Terms of Service (http://www.FutureQuest.net/Services/TOS/), as those are the general guidelines for any site on FutureQuest:
http://www.FutureQuest.net/Services/TOS/

From that point, if you're looking at a Full Package (http://www.FutureQuest.net/Services/Compare/), just keep in mind that they are shared servers so the resources need to remain available to all clients on that server. Not sure how ambitious you meant, what applications will be used, or how popular the site will become, but just to mention...

If there is a specific concern that you have, just let us know and we will certainly try to address it.

Thanks for the reply Melissa. I don't know how large the community would become either. At this point, I am just trying to find solutions for my client's needs. I didn't see it mentioned specifically in the TOS, however I expect it might be too large of a resource eater.

Well, you could always start out with a Full Hosting package for development and testing, and then be open to upgrading to a dedicated server, if that becomes necessary....

I'm looking to set-up a system that allows a school community to have a place to connect. I've looked at civicspace, but am open to other suggestions. Your social network may be similar. Any suggestions on CRM packages that I should investigate?
Thanks,
/Steve

What about forums like VBulletin (which is what we're on now)?

I am in the middle of setting up a vBulletin for a school community to connect with each other. It seems like a perfect solution, with all the permissions, calendars and private messaging. We're just at the beginning stages, but I'll keep you posted. It's quite a piece of software for $170.
