Hi,
Sorry, I've put up websites before BUT no ever wrote me :-) Now I'm helping with a website where they are soliciting email via the website HOWEVER when replying the members do not want their private emails showing up in the reply......they want the From: to show as so&so@mydomain.org.
No clue how to do this.....thank you for not laughing too hard:dunno:
All help appreciated
Lynn

Most email clients have support for multiple identities. When replying normally the identity the email was sent to will be used, but you can pick a different identity from a dropdown box, which will then be shown as the "From:" address.

Since you have zero control over your members' email programs, why not solicit their input via an input form (http://www.aota.net/Email/formmail.php4) on your website? Unless you request/they enter an email address or other personal info, you'll have no info who they are.

Hi Arthur, You may have solved my problem. If I tweak my eudora options I maintain my earthlink account from the from addy = me@mydomain.com.
THANK YOU.....now all I have to do is run around and make sure the gal that needs to reply to these emails downloads Eudora and gets it configured properly :-) sigh.....beats heck out of reading stuff about Putty, and scratching me head over Questmail

Hi Frank,
I think I understand what you're saying...you mean have the folks that must reply to solicited emails generated at the site, do so ON THE WEBSITE via a form? Am I sort of on the right track of what you're suggesting?
Thank you,
Lynn

Exactly! That's the only easy way you can offer them anonymity along with the opportunity to reply.
Ain' a no way you can even one person via your outbound email to reconfigure their email client ONE TIME just to reply to you (Which email client are they using? What version? Differences between Mac & Win?) and then change it back to how it was. If that's what you were to ask me I'd press the Delete key and be off to the next email. :hrmm:
